Women’s Football Commission Announced in Atlanta
Acknowledging the past, forging the future… We’re Making History!

Atlanta, Georgia, DECEMBER 6, 2007 - Though women have been playing full-tackle
football in the United States for nearly 80 years, there has never been a
national governing body or commission like there is for men’s football. That’s
changing in 2008 with the establishment of the Women’s Football Commission (WFC)
to be headquartered in Atlanta. What has been essentially an amateur pastime
where players "pay to play" is scheduled to become a fully professional
organization, on par with its male counterpart, the National Football League™.

The new Women’s Football Commission (WFC) is currently led by Amber Moore,
founder and CEO, who is almost single-handedly leading the effort to
professionalize women’s football in the US. Moore, a serial entrepreneur who has
never played football, says she was inspired to reorganize the sport after
finding out that women actually pay the team owners to play on the team. And, of
the four disparate leagues that consist of nearly 100 teams around the country,
one even plays during a different season than the other three.

Moore, who organizes events, says she originally sought to stage a women’s
football championship game, a kind of super bowl at the end of the season,
between teams in competing leagues. "Innocently, I put forth what I thought was
a mutually beneficial proposal for the best teams in each league to compete in
the Women’s Ultimate Football Challenge. I was surprised and amazed by the angry
response I received from the owners of three the leagues. They were outraged
that I would suggest they compete with each other in a championship game." The
fourth league, owned by Brian Wiggins, agreed to participate in the championship
game.

According to Moore, the unexpected reaction from most of the league owners
motivated her to learn more about women’s football. "What I discovered was a
conglomeration of different goals, varying approaches to marketing or no
marketing, even different business models. The worse feature of women’s football
today is the fact that 99% of the players pay to play. They buy their own
uniforms, pay their own travel expenses, and often have to raise sponsorship
money for the team. I’ve been told by several players that they had to pay to
tryout for a place on the team."

To find a solution to the circumstances she uncovered, Moore studied men’s
football, the NFL and the North American Football League (NAFL), in detail. In
recruiting the men responsible for establishing the NAFL to be her advisors,
Moore discovered that two of them, JT Turner and Terry Sullivan, were founders
of the exhibition tour that became the Women’s Professional Football League in
1999. "These guys embody the history of women’s football. They paved the way and
literally, made history. The analogy," says Moore "is that women’s football in
2007 is exactly where men’s football was in 1922 when the 11 teams that had
formed the American Professional Football Association became the NFL. They made
history, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do - again - with women’s
football in 2008."

The Women’s Football Commission is modeled after both the NFL and NAFL. Players
will be offered contracts that include payment for each game, free tryouts, and
opportunities for training, insurance, and, eventually, endorsements. There will
be divisions, for which the WFC will establish standards and a code of conduct.
In conjunction with the team owners, WFC will create a season schedule for
inter-division and inter-commission games, sanction playoffs and host a
championship game like the Super Bowl™.

In preparation for officially launching the WFC next month, Moore has seated an
Advisory Board of professionals and supporters including Robert Licopoli, NAFL
president, John (JR) Turner, NAFL vice president, Terry Sullivan, NAFL vice
president, Cathy Woolard, former Atlanta City Council President, Albernel King,
37-year veteran football coach, Ashley Kane, Athletic Trainer, Emory Healthcare,
and Joeleen Akin, Athletic Director, Agnes Scott College, among others.

The WFC is accepting applications for professional women’s football team
franchises in major cities throughout the country. Moore expects that some
existing teams will purchase WFC franchises in their current home cities. Team
players from some existing teams will migrate to new WFC teams, and totally new
franchises will be established in some cities. Team players that continue to
play in the amateur/developmental leagues throughout 2008, outside the umbrella
of the WFC, will have an opportunity to be scouted for future engagements in WFC
teams. Free tryouts for the WFC franchises will be announced in February 2008.
The WFC slogan, "Acknowledging the past, forging the future… We’re Making
History," is designed to honor and recognize the women and men who have been
involved in establishing women’s football in America. The WFC acknowledges the
historical contributions of people like Catherine Masters who founded the
National Women’s Football League, John Turner, founder of WPFL, Brian Wiggins,
executive director of the Women’s Professional Football League, Angie Dickenson,
owner of the Women’s Football League, and Kezia Disney, co-owner of the
Independent Women’s Football League.

About the Women’s Football Commission

The Women’s Football Commission (WFC) is dedicated to professionalizing women’s
full-tackle football. Our vision is a governing body that establishes standards
of play and a code of conduct for team owners and players. We envision four
divisions of teams in cities throughout America and beyond that pay players to
play the sport, provide training to improve skills, and that foster healthy
competition within and between the divisions. We pay homage to our predecessors,
the women and men who have established women’s football as a viable sport in
America. As well, we support and encourage the women and men who will forge the
future of women’s football as a fully professional athletic sport.

representative, at gloria@... or 404.478.7874.

Women's Football Talk ("WFB Talk") is the nation's first and only
talk radio program to cover ALL three major football leagues in a
weekly show hosted by Blog Talk Radio. Our mission at "WFB Talk" is
to educate our listeners as well as promote and advance the sport of
women's full tackle football. Since its debut on August 21st,
2007 "WFB Talk" has strived to reach these goals.

Your hosts for "WFB Talk" are four active female football players:
Marina Beebe, Barbara Coletta (BJ), Megan Glass (Meg) and Robin
Grove. E-mail addresses and bios for each host in addition to

The best team on paper and in person, I've seen them 3 times, in
summer scrimmage in Vegas, in L.A. vs Vegas and at SoCal, will
agree!!

Seen them the 1st week vs. Houston, team maybe getting old, may need

the team around others now!!

I'm guessing it was a great game, saw them against L.A. had talent
but made way to many mistakes and turnover, but looks like they are
putting it together with that Dallas Win, will see second half of
the season!!

Played Dallas well, but didn't use the weapons on the "O", again
just llike Dallas must build team around talent, NO "AGEE" this
year, who will step up??? New Mexico 2 times to get things going!!

If Vegas played in any other conference they are an 8-0 or 7-1 type
of team, has as much talent as L.A., SoCal, and Dallas. But must
face them all 2 times this year, they have the hardest road to
travel in the WPFL which will make them good FAST!!

Good size, but no team speed, needs to recruit SPEED and maybe needs
to play other teams outside of conference to get a true reading,
they are not a true 0-8 team!!

Has beaten Conn, and played the Roar to an even match, we will see,
give them a year or two!!

Heard game over the net, sounds like the don't have team speed to
match up the talent on the West Coast, needs speed!!!!

Have not seen the Speed play, so don't have much info on what is the
problem???

So my top 5 in the WPFL???
L.A
SoCal

On my second week of my WPFL tour, I was in Los Angeles to see the
Amazons host the Showgirlz. I knew this was going to be an good and
exciting game from the last time I seen both team scrimmage back in
mid-July.

These two teams have some good players that can run!!!! The Amazons
again displayed a great running attack with #'s 7, 22, and 46. The
Amazons score first to go up 6-0, and had a chance to go up 13-0, when
the Showgirlz who drove down the field behind the running of #26 into
field range, the kick was blocked and ran back for a TD, but the refs
made a bad call and blew the whisle early to stop the play and called
the TD back. The Showgirlz stopped the Amazons on the following
drive, and then scored to tie the game at 6-6 the extra point was
blocked. The Amazons score right before the half, going up 13-6. At
half the Showgirlz came out flat and L.A. took advanage, driving down
and scoring. On the kickoff, #26 of the Showgirlz went right up the
middle to score on the kickoff return, Showgirlz went for 2 and got
it, 20-14 Amazons. Both teams went back and forth, I thought the
Showgirlz were going to put it out, when they drove down the field to
the Amazons 9. With 1st and goal from the 9, the Showgirlz threw 4
stright times (mistake), 3 of the 4 passes were just a little long!!!
Amazons took over and on 3rd and 5, #7 raced around right end and
broke 2 tackle and then ran for an 85 TD to put then up 26 to 14 at
the end of the 3rd. In the 4th both teams "D's" continued to blend
but did't break. In final nail in the coffen can with around 3
minutes to go when #22 of the Amazon broke up the middle for a 23 yard
TD. Final score 33-14 Amazons, all in all great game, great players!!!

Next week off to see L.A. at SoCal, and on the 8th, SoCal at Dallas.

I was at this game to start my WPFL tour this season. It was a hard
hitting and exciting game, even with out Women's Football Super-Stars
on the field. The two teams were twins of each other just banging
each other up. Dallas was more physical the Houston and it showed
late on in the 4th when it counted, may see these two teams back in
the Championship game once again. Will like to see the SoCal vs
Dallas game first, before I put my money down.

Showgirlz Stung by the Scorpions 36 to 14
August 18th Opener
August 23, 2007 by Max Billings

On a hot summer night in Vegas, the Las Vegas Showgirlz took their
show out doors, on a 100 yard football field. It was one of the
greatest shows I've seen in along time. The Showgirlz I'm talking do
kick and dance, but they also hit and run fast. That's right Women's
Football has hit the Valley and in front of over 900 plus fans, the
Showgirlz took on the SoCal Scorpions, based out of San Diego California.

The game started out with both defenses taken control of the game.
The Showgirlz got the ball first and started with good field position.
Dena Houser #26 for the Showgirlz, took the first threes carries down
the field to get deep into the Scorpion's territory, but a clipping
call would stall the drive and the Showgirlz had to punt. The
Showgirlz defense stepped up and the made the Scorpions go 3 and out
on their first drive. The two teams would go back and forth moving
the ball on each other. Then the Scorpions struck first, QB Melissa
Gallegos connected on a 45 yard TD strike to WR Teresa Smith, to give
them a 7-0 lead late in the 1st. The Showgirlz struck back in the 2nd
quarter, when Running Back Dena Houser went over the right end for a 5
yard TD, tying the game up at 7's. The Showgirlz had a chance to take
the lead, the defense stopped the Scorpions and the Showgirlz took
over, but came up empty. The Scorpions then took the ball 65 yards
down the field to have Running Back Desiree Weimann cap off the drive
with a 19 yard "Draw Play", to again take the lead 14-7 with less than
4 minute left in the half. The second play of the following Showgirlz
drive, Dena Houser took the ball over the right side and cut back up
the middle as she ran for a 64 yard TD, tying the game back at 14.
With under 3 minutes the go, the Scorpions, who ran a no huddle
offense all night got on track completing 3 passes in a row, one going
to WR Elizabeth Quintard for a 35 yard TD, capped with a 2 point
conversion, make the score at half 22-14.

The second half of the game, both teams move the ball up and down the
field, the two defenses would shout down the offensive once their back
were against the wall. Scoring took place when the Showgirlz were
backed up on the 1 yard line after a missed handled punt by the
Showgirlz deep back. SoCal's Crystal Stokes tackled Dena Houser in
the endzone to make the score 24-14 at the end of the 3rd.

Again, both team moved the ball up and down the field, but both
defense were able to stop each other. The added another TD, when QB
Melissa Gallegos was able to connect with Brittany Cotton on a 35 yard
TD pass, make the score 30-14 late in the 4th, the extra point was no
good. The Scorpions sealed the deal with DB Pricella Flores
intercepted Showgirlz QB Kerri Mytch, and took it 30 yards for the
touchdown making the score 36 to 14.

Afterwards I talked to Coach Lee, "They (SoCal) were a pretty good
team, and we had them on the ropes, but couldn't get that knock out
blow in. We had a lot of rookies out there, but they played well, we
just need to get some more experience by playing". Coach was also
asked who stood out on the team. "We had a few players that stood
out, Dena House had some great runs and 2 TD's, QB Kerri Mytch threw
the ball well, on D, Casandra Alston had a solid game along with SS
Joy Norman, who I think lead the team in tackles tonight. Overall we
did well, should see a lot of improve going into our next game".

The Showgirlz hit the road this Saturday as they face the Los Angeles
Amazons, a winner over the New Mexico Burn 64-0.

I am writing to pass along a bit of information regarding the
Predators, I was talking to a few of my former teammates from the
Predators and I was informed that the Predators ownership was pulling
the plug on the franchise due to lack of practice/game participation
from players as well we financial difficulties in keeping the
organization functioning.
While this is a sad day for me as a former Predator who spent 2 years
with the franchise this may be for the best in the long run for Detroit
in general.
With the arrival of the Spitfire to Ann Arbor from Toledo and the
defending World Champion Demolition here in Detroit there really is not
room for a 3 teams in southeast Michigan and we can not forget the
Toledo Reign of the WPFL to the south so in essence there were four
teams in a very small geographical area now there will be three once
again.
As a former Predator I truly hope that someday maybe the Predators can
be ressurrected and find success on and off the field but for the
interim it appears they are gone.
