Jed, our beloved, darling friend for 17 years, passed away in my arms on Monday morning. Jed brought Den and I, and we hope the Hash, a lot of enjoyment over the years and we have many personal, hashing memories of him but the one I think the Hash may recall was of Jed almost on coils, with arched back, literally 'springing' through a field of corn trying to find us and the trail! Jed too was on the very first K&A run of 31 July 19991! Dennis and I wish to share a poem with you by Rudyard Kipling to celebrate and describe the loss of our friend Jed:
"I have done mostly what most men do,
And pushed it out of my mind;
But I can't forget, if I wanted to,
Four-Feet trotting behind.
Day after day, the whole day through
Wherever my road inclined
Four-Feet said, "I am
coming with you!"
And trotted along behind.
Now I must go by some other round,
Which I shall never find ......
Somewhere that does not carry the sound
Of Four-Feet trotting behind."
