This Saturday, the Devils have a chance to resurrect their season in Los
Angeles, where they take on #21 Southern Cal. With a win, the Devils would be
3-1 in the Pac-10 with a realistic chance of postseason play; a loss would
evaporate the momentum gained with last week’s victory over Oregon State.
There will be a sizable contingent of Devil fans in the LA Coliseum. I hope to
be there myself. If you cannot attend the game in person, it will be broadcast
live on ABC in Arizona and the Pacific time-zone at 4pm PT. In other parts of
the country, the game is available on ESPN’s Gameplan pay-per-view service, so
any decent sports bar should be able to pick it up.
If you’re watching the game at home, log in to Wired Devils and visit the "Sun
Devil Sports Link" where you can chat about the game live with other fans.

DID YOU KNOW?
* USC is quarterbacked by Mike Van Raaphorst, younger brother of Jeff Van
Raaphorst, ASU’s starting quarterback in the 1987 Rose Bowl and current radio
color commentator.
* Arizona State is the only Pac-10 school that holds a winning record against
USC (8-6). This includes a winning record in games played in LA (3-2).
* There’s a new website where you can look up the season records and schedules
for any school since 1950. ASU’s information can be found at:
http://michschool.simplenet.com/ncaa/fbteams/arzstate.htm
* On Page 2 of Wired Devils you will find a new "multimedia" section which I
hope to expand over time. Currently, you can see a clip of Jake Plummer’s
famous Rose Bowl touchdown and download the ASU fight song. Please let me know
of any other items that I could add to this section.
* Thanks to those of you who provided (mostly positive) feedback after last
week's newsletter. Please send any comments to robin_stanton@...
