welcome back to windsurfing.. in Carbondale, you are a little closer to Lake
Carlyle (about 70 miles due north) than Ky Dam Village (roughly 90 miles)..
Carlye is a very good sailing lake.. actually hosted the Olympic W-surfing
trials in 96 (or 90, whenever St. Louis hosted Oly trials).. several launch
sites (boat ramp, sailing club, various rec areas around the lake).. inquire at
info center for details.. Carlyle usually has more consistent and bigger winds
than Ky or Barkley Lakes. But the Ky lakes are certainly more
aesthetic--surrounded by green rolling hills, while Carlye is in the plains
(explaining the better winds).. ample campling at Carlyle and a couple of
inexpensive, nice hotels in town. Enjoy either location and good luck teaching
the spouse.
hey Creston, Jesenko, anyone else out there--tomorrow's forecast looks decent..
i'm likely headed to Patoka (Jackson), although Cox Park may be an option..
aloha all, mp

Creston,
Thanks for the info --
Looking for a little wind this weekend to see if there are any skills
left or not. Have never sailed with cams before. Wound up with a
whole stack (9 I think) of cambered sails from 3.7 to 6.7.
Also will be trying to teach my Wife along the way. We live near Crab
Orchard Lake close to Carbondale, IL. Will likely start there but I
would like to get to KY Lake before it gets too cold.
I am from Paducah also -- born there but never really lived there.
