There's an ever increasing number of Irish users on gps-speedsurfing.com which
is great to see. However the in house fighting over whether or not this equates
to records has now begun here having been ongoing in other countries for a long
time.
The long and short of it is that gps speeds are not official, however given the
fact that official events require huge organisation and funding, most people are
really paying attention to gps-speedsurfing to see who the fastest sailors are.
There's a level of trust in this game and all people so far seem to cooperate
with this.
So Oisin, get out there and log your gps speeds on gps-speedsurfing and thereby
you'll have both records. Based on your performance on my gear last year there's
a strong chance that you'll be the joint record holder and that'll be the end of
it.
gps-speedsurfing attracts all the top speedsailors; Finian, Dave White, etc. so
why not log on.
BTW Keel Lake is too short for a 500m record but very good for all other
records, although I am sure there is a better spot we just haven't found yet.
