Ed,
Thanks for the shoulder link. I really need it. Last year the info I received was very helpful and I was able to recover. But to be honest I have been neglecting doing the extra shoulder work and I am feeling it when I attain.
As far as my animal instincts, It's not as bad as one would think.. I do not over dress. I get right out of the car jump in my boat and paddle hard upstream and then come back down. You don't get nearly as wet when you paddle uphill that is the key. and it is really no different than people who go jogging in the winter. The only time I risk getting cold is when I change out of my wet stuff back into my dry clothes. I've been doing it for a long time, and have it down to a science. I've narrowed down my clothing needs to the perfect outfit for different temperatures. That makes all the difference. I use to cut off my workouts in the mid 20's but now with the addition of a hooded shortsleve top I can go down much lower. 12 degrees is the lowest I have done, I was very comfortable and it was not too bulky.
Winter time is a great time to build your endureance, I wish others would try this with me so that I could share with them my experience so that they don't lose the winter months of training. Jesse Whittemore is the one who I have to blame for getting me addicted to these winter workouts. "Thanks Jess"

Chris- Man, you guys are animals. Much below 40' air temp and I can never get my hips to loosen up which screws up my stroke. Even at 40' and sunny, there's nothing quite like smashing into a sheet of ice during the middle of a sprint. You were asking about shoulders last year. Someone turned me on to the following link- I'm no expert, just a guy who has to work to keep his shoulders intact, but it seems pretty good. The musclehead overtones are a bit offputting, but it tracks the USACK protocol pretty closely, and my word, doesn't that look like our own J. Pinyerd doing the demo? Cheers...Ed G.

I would also like to do some training runs on the Nescopeck in the early spring. I don't remember the lines because it's been a while. But I have a feeling this would be a cool Wildwater run when it has water. Norbery and you other people from the middle of the state might enjoy it because it's closer to you than the Lehigh and has that small creek feel. when we get some rain in the forecast and a day that anyone can make it I'd like to have some people to push me. Maybe even make a race out of it.
