Directions to Belmont Abbey College and the US National Whitewater Center
Print this and bring with you.
Directions to the Whitewater Center:
Take Interstate – 85 to exit 29 (Sam Wilson Road).
If you are coming from the north, or the airport, take a right turn.
Turn left off Sam Wilson Road onto Performance Road: 100 yards (100 meters).
Take Performance Road to the Dead End (0.9 miles, 1.6 kilometers).
Turn right on Moores Chapel Road.
Take second left (0.5 miles, 08. kilometers) onto Hawfield Road.
The Whitewater center is one mile, and past the power lines.
CAUTION: four+ major speed bumps on road marked with a white arrow.
There are signs to center, but they are small.
Directions to Belmont Abbey College:
Take Interstate – 85 South from the whitewater center to exit 26.
The campus is in front of you. Turn left at the stop sign.
Turn right at the first entrance to the college. Turn left.
Housing is in the Cuthbert Allen Student Apartments around the back of the campus.
Parking is in the lot in front of the apartments.
Each apartment holds four persons, with a common area, bathroom, shower, and four private bedrooms with a single ‘twin” bed in each. Either bring sheets and a pillow, or we will buy them at a nearby Wal-Mart.
There is a refrigerator, small sink, and a microwave, but no cooking facilities in the room.
Belmont Abbey was founded in 1876 and is home to Benedictine monks.
The president of the college, Dr. William K. Thierfelder, is a former Olympian.
