Geoff- Good luck on the recovery. Take the recovery as slow as needed, and build it back up strong, whether you keep racing or not. My left shoulder (my vulnerable top hand side) used to sublux when I sneezed in high school. I've built it up so much I've never felt a twinge racing or training on it. (Knock on wood). I'm sure you've got access to Davey's shoulder routine, when the time comes, and USACK has got a pretty good one as well. ...Ed

i dislocated my shoulder creeking on difficult run (creek on the
virginia side) yesterday evening, a less than enjoyable experience, and
it took nearly 4 hours to get it back in the socket, the first hour and
a half without painkillers...i can wiggle my fingers now but have no
feeling between my elbow and my knuckles- my right arm is essencially
numb and limp until the nerves 'warm up' again. its weird having to
look at your arm to see where it is, not being able to feel it. im
typing with my left hand...tedious.
so it looks like i'm out for the gauley race, and paddling in general
for a while. but i guss i'll have a good long time to evaluate whether
im going to start training again or not. i'll be pissedwhen the next
tropical storm comes along in a few weeks and i cant do anything..
