Ugh, that sucks dude. Take care of yourself
and take the time to let it rest. I know people who have rushed healing and had
a shoulder dislocation develop into a recurring problem with the joint
dislocating extremely easily from that point on.

Subject: [wildwater] So i'm done
paddling for a while....
i dislocated my shoulder creeking on difficult run
(creek on the
virginia side) yesterday evening, a less than enjoyable experience, and
it took nearly 4 hours to get it back in the socket, the first hour and
a half without painkillers.
feeling between my elbow and my knuckles- my right arm is essencially
numb and limp until the nerves 'warm up' again. its weird having to
look at your arm to see where it is, not being able to feel it. im
typing with my left hand...tedious.
so it looks like i'm out for the gauley race, and paddling in general
for a while. but i guss i'll have a good long time to evaluate whether
im going to start training again or not. i'll be pissedwhen the next
tropical storm comes along in a few weeks and i cant do anything..
