John- That's too bad. I hope that with good rehab you'll be back stronger than ever....Ed

Those folks that have been hanging out with me know I have been acting differently lately. The reason is that I really hurt the heck out of my shoulder a few weeks ago and it has NOT gotten better.
I have been turning down runs on the Ocoee, wimping out of river trips in general, not taking practice runs, cutting workouts short.... and last but note least, I only paddled one class at Nationals. I even did not thow in one of my famous "cross bows" from the stern when we needed it the most.
Well it turns out that my high school coach "Pea Rooney" was wrong when he said pain is 98% mental. Fortunately I knew that and have attempting to be careful with my shoulder.
I confirmed today that I have a torn rotator cuff. It's big and bad enough that my only option to be a fully functional paddler again is to get surgery. I'm looking to schedule this in the next 3 weeks.
And a special thank you Rob Murphy for sticking with the plan of paddling C-2 at Nationals with his wounded warrior partner.
John
