Re: [wildwater] Re: ICF Rule Changes

Yep, no doubt Tom is right about that (small feet make you go faster) in C-1. Plus, I'm thinking that sitting on my size 9's is a lot better than sitting on a set of size 14's. That's just part of the reason I hate booties (they make me have bigger feet to sit on).

And I should have pointed out in my original post that our MEGA event in CO (Fibark/USA Nationals/Team Trails) in June 2009 are both designated as international races (although I'm pretty confident that no one will care if you wear booties).

John is right about the footwear rule- I don't think anyone in the U.S.
will be tightly enforcing it. We may see a Team Trials organizer
saying "If you plan on racing internationally, you are expected to
follow all rules for international racing, including airbag and bootie
rules." But I don't think anyone will get disqualified (probably).

By the way, those with big feet should think about ways to reduce foot
size. Smaller feet make you a faster C-1 paddler.

It is a shame that the ICF is dropping the non-stop race.? I think it is a great process for the race organizers and athletes to work out the kinks before race...

While we have no control over ICF, I would certainly argue that US races not go through the effort to enforce the "booty rule" beyond the recommendation ...

Yes, I agree. Organizers can still have the non-stop it's just not required due to the addition of the Sprint and Sprint Team races. JP...

O.K. I'm going to start binding my size 13 feet in an act of total commitment. They should be down to size 12.875 by Nationals ;-)...
