I've only known Larry for about one year. His knowledge of old air-
cooled Kawasaki engines is sharp, wish I had his wisdom sometimes.
Somehow I've managed to build a 1200cc engine with what I consider
the best of everything without any outside help. Well, by the time
I'd met Bernie all the spending was over but he did offer some good
advice. My combination could be overkill but that's what I wanted.
I ran into Larry at Kamakazi, I had a huge clutch cable made of
Harley cable because the weak aftermarket cables were breaking after
a few weeks. This new cable was massive. Larry was there and seen Ron
messing with it. What's that for? I told him an old KZ1000. I still
don't think he understands why I wanted such a nice cable for my
bike. Really wasn't any of his business but he got to vent about it
anyway. I thought he was getting awfully involved to a person he
didn't know.
Trust me, I'd love to race a bike at International with you guys.
After working second shift for 12 years, my life is shit. Money is
slow, house is a pit, car is old & getting older. I dream of life
after child support, just 5 more years.... Building the 1200 engine &
bike has taken two years and counting. And no, it had to be built
this way or I wouldn't have done it at all. I've bought a few other
bikes that I just couldn't pass up, that meant a lot of sacrifices in
other areas. Some of us just struggle along, never reaching the goal.
300K in child support paid out, can't I have one damn decent bike? I
guess not without a lot of suffering. Anyway, I hope the track
survives. I have hope. Look at it this way, all the Top Fuel guys are
old men, I have a ways to go yet, it's not all grey yet. I'll just
jump right into Top Fuel and skip over the slow bikes, yeah, that's
what I'll do....
