This is a sad one. All of us in horseshoes are going to miss him. Would you post this for me on the WHPA bulletin board?
August Lee “Augie” Potter,
Age 47, of Waterford, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Memorial Hospital of Burlington. He was born in Burlington on February 15, 1962 to Clifton and Audrey (nee Hewitt) Potter. Augie spent his early life in Burlington and was a graduate of Badger High School in Lake Geneva.
On September 22, 1990 in Burlington, Augie was united in marriage to Juliann Hoppe. Following marriage they resided in Waterford. Augie had been a resident of Waterford for over 20 years and was a truck driver for Waterford Oil.
Augie enjoyed hunting and horseshoe competitions. He also enjoyed holding and attending the Potter picnics and pig roasts. Augie was a good carpenter and loved woodworking.
Survivors include his wife, Juliann Potter, siblings, John (Linda) Potter, Lois (Sonny) Fowler, Patty (Mickey) Fowler, Susie Sheppard, Phil (Martise) Potter, Gordy Potter, Bonnie (Duaine) Schmidt, Julie (Duane) Olson, Howard (Charlotte) Potter, Larry (Threasa) Potter, Mark (Jill) Potter and Kenny Potter, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary Jo Friederich, James (Diane) Hoppe, Jeff (Dawn) Hoppe, Jay Hoppe and Jason (Christina) Hoppe and by mother-in-law, Joyce Hoppe. Augie is further survived by many nieces and nephews and by his loyal companions, Boo and Bean. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:00 PM at Schuette Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Mickey Fowler officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the funeral home on Friday, from 4:00 PM until the time of service.
