Right a few points:
1. Paulo, yes you are a tight-arse and also a hypocrite. How you can complain at Dave organising lunch club at Varsity because of it's unhealthy food and then complain when we organise a BBQ that will have healthy food is beyond me. I'm sick of having to justify everything we do to you, in future if you disagree with what we are doing, either approach us in private, or don't come. Your email implies that we are ripping you off, when what is actually happening is that Myself and Helen are going to a lot of effort to organise a fitting end to the Club year, your ingratitude astounds me. If you contributed anything to the running of the Club your complaints would probably be a bit better received.
2. Tippy, do you think that comments alluding to how much better things were in your day are really helpful or have a positive impact on the Club in any way?
3. If anyone thinks the BBQ is beyond their budget, either don't come, or don't eat. While we would like as many of you there as possible, it is by no means compulsory and if you think you are being ripped off, we will understand. But it will be your loss.
4. I've never been to a BBQ that the club has funded.
5. The Club doesn't have the funds after subsidising both your Christmas Dinner and the 80th Dinner.
6. The last two BBQ's were both 'Bring Your Own' Food' and were pretty poor because everyone just brought a pack of sausages and expected everyone else to use their imagination. We want this year to be different.
7. "Cost will be £4-£5 probably". The cost we stated was an approximation and may well be cheaper. It's not possibly to give you an exact figure as we've not been shopping yet and we don't know exact numbers yet either, I'm not going to under-estimate the cost because that will leave people out of pocket. Again, if you can't afford this, don't come or don't eat.
8. It really pisses me off when people put plans in place, for the benefit of the Club, then at the last minute people try to get things changed so no one knows what's going on. The details of the BBQ have been arranged and they will not be changed.
9. None of you that have had anything to say have said whether you're coming or not, as was requested. If you can't even be bothered to confirm then why should we bother trying to organise it for you? The reason we asked for confirmation was so that we'd know how much food to arrange as too much food, means the BBQ will cost more than it should and too little food will mean that there won't be enough for everyone. If you don't tell Me, Helen or Dave you're coming there won't be food for you.
10. As a general point, sending emails such as those send by Paulo, Manuel and Tippy today do nothing but undermine the Committee and Club spirit and come across as extremely ungratious and insulting because they are voiced over such a public forum. If you really can't voice your complaints in an appropriate manner then please forward them to muccccommittee@yahoogroups.com in future.
Rockliffe.
