Has anyone heard of folks river boarding the Middle Fork of the
Salmon? Maybe the Ripboard folks who monitor this group know? I've
got a reservation to do it at the end of this month. I have a
Ripboard which is better for the big water, such as the Salmon in May?
June, but I have to admit for most of my short runs I use my Boogie
Board. I find it surfs and carves better and is generally more
maneuverable. Also, the bow of the Ripboard is so "bulbous" that it
has a habit of "submarining", especially when surfing a wave that's
being formed right behind a steep roll over.
Also, has anyone heard of folks who do self supported river boarding
trips, i.e. don't have a support raft to carry all their stuff for a
multi-day trip? Instead, just pack super light weight gear in a small
dry bag on their back?~Minot
