Fellow boarders,
I've had the opportunity to scout the Gorge at low water and from the seven plus
years of riding a riverboard the underlying features do not appear to be too
much for an experienced rider. I think scouting it at release levels to be sure
it is doable is key. Has anyone seen it up close at release levels or had
experience rafting or kayaking it or better yet swimming parts of it? Scouting
could involve paying for a commercial rafting trip down the river or hiking into
the main rapids but with that experience and knowledge under our belts we should
be more successful in getting the authorities to open it up for riverboarding.
I think a plan of how a boarder would run each of the main rapids needs to be
developed and explained in order to convince the establishment that
riverboarding should be allowed. Similar to Kevin's suggestion of a first
expedition. Let's combine our collective experience - share your thoughts.
