We are sorry to have to say that the races for tonight are canceled. We are experiancing some electrical problems with our water well possibly due to a lightning strike which has affected the well pump wiring. We were unable to get it repaired in time for tonights races. We are sorry for the late notice but were hoping we would be able to get it repaired in time for tonights races. We expect it to be repaired in time for the next scheduled event on June 26th. Again we apologize for the late notice and hope you will understand! Thank you, -=Guy=-
Hiyaz fellow race fans!!!
Just wanted to welcome all the new members to the Whiskey Lake Raceway
Yahoo Group!! Thank you for your continued support.
I also wanted to let those of you who hadn't checked the pictures
section here, that I have been adding pictures from each week. I know
there isn't that many and the quality is far from perfect, but I am
working on fixing that hopefully soon.
I also wanted to let all of you know that each of you are able to add
your own pics to these albums. After all they belong to all of you. If
you have any pictures you may want to share, by all means please do.
All I ask is that they be appropiate for a family based site, and not be
derogatory, vulgar or hurtful to others. Those photos will be removed
immediately and if neccessary, appropiate action will be taken I.E.
banning user/deleting membership, contacting users isp or even the
authorities.
Anyway, That's all I have for now, please check out the newest pictures
if you haven't seen them already on the WLR website.
You all please stay cool and out of the hot sun and we'll see YOU at the
races!!!
-=Guy=-
Sorry for the delay in sending this out but we were trying to wait it

I apologize for the delay and sending this out but I just got back from
the track. It is coming down cats and dogs now so we will try again
next Friday May 22nd.

Thank you and Have a great time this year!!
-=Guy=-
Hello Everybody!!!
Just wanted to wish every one a safe and Happy Halloween!!
I hope all the little kids (And the big kids too) have a blast!!!
Halloween was my favorite holiday for a lotta years and now sadly it's
gotten to be that people are scared to even go out and trick or
treat.... I used to go all out and decorate my house with all kinds
of scary and fun decorations including things like flashing colored
lights, and fog machines, and had scary sounds playing nonstop from
hidden speakers, We all dressed up in great costumes, and you don't
even wanna know how much candy and great treats I used to give out
each Halloween!!! We always had so much fun! I really miss those
times a lot
Sadly though, the last 4 years I have only had a total of about 10
kids even come to my door and last year I didn't even have a single
trick or treater at all :( I have slowly reduced my enthuseasm until
this year I have decided to not do anything at all. A sign of the
times I guess, but it still saddens me quite a bit.
Anyway if any of you end up doing something fun this year, please take
a few pics and share them with all of us here if you would please. I
know I would enjoy seeing and hearing about what you all do for
Halloween and I'm sure the rest of us would too!!! I'm going to
create a Halloween Photo Album in the photos section here and if
anybody has any pics to add to it, they would be very welcome I'm
sure!! Also if you have a funny story about one of your Halloween
adventures maybe you could post that here as a group message as well
for all of us to enjoy.
I wish all of you a very safe, fun and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Whiskey Lake Raceway
Whiskey Lake Raceway Has Decided To Not Hold Any Further Events/Races In 2008.
Management has decided to end the 2008 season effective immediately.
Please check back often for info about the 2009 season which will begin
sometime in April of 2009. Whiskey lake Raceway would like to say
thank you to everyone for their continued support in 2008 and beyond!
Whiskey Lake Raceway held it's first scheduled event under new
managment last night on August 29th. All in all it was a pretty good
night I think. Thank you to everybody who came out and supported us on
our first night under new managment!!
Here is a list of
partial results, Amanda is sending me the full results and as
soon as I get them, I will post them to you all. Thank you to
Wiggyfor these results and for your great job in taking pics and doing
pace car duties for us! (To see pics of last nights action, check out
his website at www.midwestdirt.com/ )
Mini Stock: Donnie Cleveland Street Stock: Josh Stevenson Hobby Stock: Martin Schneider Modifieds: Steven Bowers Jr. B Mods: Don Morris Mod Lites: Corbin Pickerill
51 cars total JD has asked me to post the following to everybody so here it is:
Hi Everyone!!!
We
want to start off by thanking EVERYONE for coming out last
night. We had a great car and fan count for our first night of
racing.
We know we had some glitches, that is part of why we
wanted to run these "exhibition" races this fall, so we can work out
the bugs before we kick off the new season in the spring.
1. The concession stand ran out of food, we will be more geared up for the next race.
2. The check-in process was a little confusing and we will be working on a better way to work that out this week.
3. The track was extremely dusty toward the end of the evening and we are going to work on that as well.
4.
The biggest complaint about the evening came from the drivers,
regarding payouts. We didn't realize that the payout was going to
be such an issue. We are currently revamping the payout
schedule and will be posting that by Monday. The top end purse
may not be as large; so that we can pay all of the drivers who
take the green flag in the feature something. Just as for this
week, the guarantee will be based on a 15 car turnout. If we have
less than15 cars, the guarantee will be prorated based on the number of
cars. For example, if the 15 car guarantee is $200 and we only
have 12 cars,we will pay 80% of the purse or $160 to the first place
winner. The remaining purse to be spread out from second to
eleventh place.
This fall is an attempt to bring both drivers
and fans to the track. We are working hard to make this track a great
place to be. Please be patient with us and our growing
pains. We will be correcting all of the problems listed
above. If you have any other comments or concerns, please contact
me directly at: jd@....
And here is his schedule for the remainder of the season:
Same classes, every Friday night through October 10th September 5 September 12 September 19 September 26 October 3 October 10
And here is the Payouts for next Friday's events:
DRIVER PAYOUTS FOR SEPTEMBER 5, 2008
Below
are the payouts per class for next Friday's race. All classes are
based on a car count of 15. If we have less than 15 cars in any
class, the payout will be prorated on a percentage basis. For
example, in the Mini-Stock/Mosquito class, if we have 12 cars, the
payout will be 80% of what is listed here, so 1st place would receive
$120.00. All other placed finishes will also be prorated to
aminimum payout of $20.00. If you take the green flag in the feature race and complete one full lap you will receive $20.00. This
is the program we intend to run for the rest of this year. We
apologize for any confusion regarding the August 29th race.
Please be patient and stick with us, as we are working to make this a great track for drivers and fans alike.
Whiskey Lake
Raceway has been Leased by James "JD" Diaz who plans on severral new
and exciting changes to the facilities and programs/events scheduled
for the rest of 2008 and beyond!!.
The track is currently closed
until the 29th of August to let JD implement some of these changes and
get to know his staff. A limited schedule will be ran for
the rest of 2008 possibly up into late September or early October.
For more information please check out the Whiskey Lake Raceway website and/or the flier below or contact JD.

and engine size/modifications to be determined on race day according to

Hello Whiskey Lake Raceway's yahoo group members!!
Due to Country Stampede being held this coming weekend and personal
business issues, Roger has decided to cancel the double points events
sceduled this Friday June 27th & Saturday June 28th.
We are not scheduled to run the following weekend as well due to the 4th of July celebrations.
We will resume racing action on Friday July 11th with URSS, B-Mods, and support classes.
We are sorry if this causes anybody problems, and we hope you all have a very happy and safe 4th of July!!
Hello to all our Whiskey Lake Raceway Yahoo Groups Members!!
For those of you who didn't know it, we had CBS news drop by Whiskey
Lake Raceway last Friday morning!!!
They were there doing a cross-country special on how the recent high
gas prices is affecting americans called: "Eye On The Road".
Here is a link to the special, if you scroll down you can see the
video that was broadcast ive Friday morning from the track including a
short comment made by Doug Thompson.

earch_story
Also don't forget that Whiskey Lake Raceway is having a Chamber of
Commerce ribbon cutting night on May 30th kicking off a "Sports
Spectacular Weekend" with Free BBQ and a color guard ceremony and a
U.S. Army marching band. This will also be our URSS 305 Sprints
opening race, and they are expected to be there in high numbers - They
will race along with our regular classes including the B-Mods!!
Also we have had a film crew at the track to shoot scenes for an
upcoming movie to be released sometime later this year called: "Can We
Talk?".
They have been at the track shooting a 22 minute segment for the film
involving car racing scenes, winners circle, and pit sequences, and
on the 30th they will be back to finish up shooting with the
spectator/crowd scenes. Come on out and join the fun - You could
actually be in the movie!!!
On Saturday the 31st of May, we will also open up the track to our
first time ever QUADS only event. There should be some great racing
with the ever popular and exciting Quads - come on out and bring your
friends for some great Quad racing!
Gates open at 5pm and racing starts at 7pm
Thank you all for supporting Whiskey Lake Raceway - Spread the word!!!
We'll see you at the races!!!

www.whiskeylakeraceway.net/
I'm very sorry to have to say this but the races scheduled for Friday
May 02nd are canceled.... again.... Roger has made the decision that
we are still not ready to begin our season. I know this will upset
many of you and for that I am sorry. We just have a lot of things to
do to be able to put on a good show, and between the weather in the
past few weeks and the problem of some of the dirt equipment not being
available, as well as a delay in recieving our necessary concesssion
equipment and stock, we just cannot open and put on a quality show at
this time for the fans or the racers.
We have contacted the people involved with the delays and they assure
us we can be ready by next Friday, May 9th. I'm keeping my fingers
crossed.
We will also have to cancel the URSS opening night races until May
30th and I apologize for that. We have been contracted to film
segment shots for a movie to be filmed at Whiskey Lake for the next
two weekends and they require B-Mods for their shoot. URSS will begin
their schedule on May 30th. I hope you will understand.
I know it must seem as we are never going to start our 2008 season,
but we are trying to do the right thing and not open before we are
ready and risk putting on a bad show for everybody. Please be patient
and rest assured I want to go racing as badly as you all do.
Once again I apologize for all these delays and confusion.
Thank you, -=Guy=-
Well once again we are unable to get the track dirt work done due to
rain... You guessed it, rained out again. So opening night will now
be Friday May 2nd.
Gates open at 5pm
Races start at 7pm.
B-Mods and other regular classes. No URSS
If anybody has any pull with the higher ups please put in a good word
for us all and ask for nice sunny weather please... :)
See you next week!!
-=Guy=-
Hello everybody!
Well Mother Nature again decided to throw us some more rain, so due to
the track being flooded -AGAIN- We must sadly cancel Playday.
We will now just move into the first night of racing on the 25th of
April. Please get there as early as possible to get your car/driver
registered. Due to this we will open the gates 1 hour early at 4pm
I understand this will cause some frustration to everybody and we at
Whiskey Lake Raceway apologize for this.
URSS drivers can register on their first day of racing which is the
9th of May. Gates will open regular time at 5pm
Thank you for your understanding, -=Guy=-
We have decided to start off the season with the B-Mods and support
classes and NOT the URSS 305 Sprints as previously scheduled for April
25th. We will run the first two weekends events with B-Mods on Friday
April 25th as our season opener and again the next week Friday, May
02. Then we will begin alternating weekends with the URSS 305 Sprints
and the B-Mods as originally scheduled.
Thank you for you understanding, -=Guy=-
Just wanted to let you all know that Playday, (Registration, Test &
Tune) scheduled for April 13th has been postponed one week due to bad
weather. We will hold Playday on Sunday, April 20th at 2 PM
Opening night races scheduled for Friday, April 18th will also be
postponed one week as well. We are now scheduled to hold our first
race (Season Opener) on Friday, April 25th.
Gates open @ 5 PM Races start @ 7PM
At this time I have not received word on whether we will start off
with B-Mods or URSS 305 Sprints as previously scheduled for the 25th.
I will let you all know as soon as I can find out from Roger,
hopefully tomorrow.
We at Whiskey Lake Raceway are sorry if this causes any inconveniences
to you, but we would prefer to have sufficient time weather wise so
that we may properly prepare the track surface for the best and safest
racing possible. Hopefully Mother nature will co-operate and sunny
skies and warmer nights will arrive soon!
Thank you for your understanding, any questions please feel free to
contact me anytime.
