I think that is most wise.
The change of surface to rock hard will take a few out as they don't allow to adapt to the very different surface.
I have decided to learn from you and hold back in a few races and treat them as training for the bigger events.
Long may your god example continue.
I will have a look at the races you suggest.

"Weekend of 10th/11th I've offered to make up a V60 Team for Ilkley
at the Yorkshire Vets Cross Country at Rotherham."Now then, I don't mind you winning the V50 races, but don't you come creeping into my category. I've offered to run, just waiting for more news from Pete Shields.Welcome to Sunny Rotherham, never been known to be cold down there. With the FRA Calendar having arrived, I can find a fell race for most weekends, so not thinking much of other cross country...
White Holme Circular - 18th Jan.
Stanbury Splash, and my LDWA "That's Lyth" - 25th Jan
Mickleden - 1st Feb ( instead of the Kinder Trial). It's all runnable, not hard and scenic.
Wadsworth Trog -7th Feb
Ovenden was very cold, frozen, easy to go wrong on and turn an ankle. Also extremely rock hard surface to run on. I went steady, avoided any pounding. Just safely round.Dave
