Gianluca,

I was struck by the similarities to English pugilism in the material
you posted. To answer your question, many pugilists advocated
switching leads as good practice. I teach my students to attack and
defend from both left and right guards, as you'll find yourself in
both positions when you move in a fight. Thanks for posting this
info -- it's very interesting.
