I think Wes does somthing with tax writeoff, as advertisting cost, with his tow business by having "Brown's Towing" on his racecar. But I don't know any of the particulars.

Cool, I think I can reply with email rather than on the web.
At All American Speedway they make you burn most the tread off your
tires. I forget what the max tread depth is, but it's enough that the
tires are not good for racing anywhere else with. So you either have
to find a source for used tires, and a lot of places won't sell them
because of liability issues. Or buy new tires and put your bumper
against the fence and burn the thread off them. I have some photos of
this somewhere. I've seen Jeff Bye taking photos of these burnouts
too.
Not really related to Enduro other than we ran our Enduro cars in
these open class Bomber races. They also had Hornet class races; mini
stocks, all yellow and black. Here's a few photos I took;
Shasta Speedway 2005.01.22

Shasta Speedway 2005.01.22 Phonecam photos
http://dfduck-racephone.buzznet.com/
Shasta Speedway 2005.02.26
http://dfduck-motorsports3.buzznet.com/
And just a bunch of misc. enduro photos in no particular order
http://dfduck-motorsports.buzznet.com/
Feel free to add Comments on any of these photos. I have it configured
so anyone can add comments. And that ought to be enough racing photos
to keep your mouse clicking till time to go to the track. If not check
out http://enduro.webhop.net/ for a few more.

I also have about 280 photos from two open class Bomber races this year at Shasta. I was riding passenger in the #92 Enduro car with 3 cameras and video. I was uploading photos to the web "live" from inside the car while going around the track. We didn't do all that well; the first race we finished 8th in a field of 26. Then found out we had three broken valves. Fixed them. The second race we overheated at about lap 20 in the Main and just pulled it off the track onto the trailer. We won't be going back up there
because we're not competitive against cars at least 1,000 pounds lighter than us.
What is the deal with the tires? I am not sure that I am understand it.

I imagine Roseville still has that lame tread rule. That is the stupidest rule I have ever seen at any race track. They claim they do it to reduce the cost of racing, making it more fair for teams without a lot of money. But in fact it does exactly the opposite. If a team also races at other tracks then they have to buy two complete sets of tires, one for Roseville and another for everywhere else.
They should just tell the truth and say they want people running bald tires because they want more spins and big wrecks. Because thats what the fans like to see. It doesn't matter that a team spent a few thousand dollars putting a racecar together. The officials at All American want to see you wreck
that car. (then whine about low car count)
If they really wanted to equalize the field they should quit turning a blind eye to the cars with all the steel reinforcment. At least Doyle isn't there anymore with steel and cement in his frame punching holes in the walls (with no damage to his car) and tearing the whole side off other cars.
Last I heard John Padjen, who runs Silver Dollar and Plascerville tracks, was trying to get All American. And he was going to let his daughter run it. If this ever happens that stupid tire rule will go out the window.

I remember that #70 car. I heard somewhere that he won some high dollar destruction derby and was dq'd due to over reinforcing the car. May have been cement in the rails. Another car to watch closely is that 02, He was missing his complete rrquarter panel last October in Altamont. very dangerous due to all of the jagged sheetmetal that was still there. And watch that #45 (maybe 44) front wheel Cadillac. I saw diamond plate welded to his quarter panels and his front hoop is triangulated with at least 3 points to the frame.
The tire rule is wrong. They are definatley trying to ruin some cars. Shouldnt all that water and soap be enough? I wont run there any more due to the damage to my car each race. Then again I keep saying that about Altamont, but I keep showing up.

Hey right on!! I am glad that Ken told you about this. I know that it is hard because most people think that Enduro Racing is about bikes. Thanks for signing up. I just started it yesterday. I will try to have my car ready for Roseville. If I don't race I will atleast be there to watch. Good Luck anyways. I am going to try to make decals for anyone in the group that wants to put them on there car. I will try to get them done for Roseville. Thanks again.
