19 or 20 cars, track was mucked up for the 4cyl enduro which had about 12 cars, maybe 5 finished, then they rewatered the track and started us in the normal directon.  All cars played it cool for the first 10-15 laps then the track started to come in, became a real good door to door battle with most cars on or near the lead lap at the mid way point.  That is when my focus was elsewhere and I didnt follow the race too close.  The 14 of Denman won after having early race troubles on the front straitaway.  There were a couple of brand new cars, couple of what appeared to be purestocks, the old limo that was banned from Altamont about 5 years ago, pretty cool watching them navigate that car around the track, a 14 year old kid made his racing debut and although a bit slow, he navigated the track skillfully.

The track was real racey and the promoters seemed appreciative of the support from the racers in hopes of building the race up in future years.  Unfortunately I (WCE) will not be a part of their future success!

yeah, me either!  To make matters worse I had just plowed into #43 Viscusi totaling his car and taking out my front end...I was running with the big dogs trying to show em how its done when they stopped the race to change directions.  I noticed steam from under the hood so as we lined up under red, I stopped then slowly proceeded off the track to find out why the motor was steaming, 3 laps later #43 spun into the exit wall blocking the high line of turn 1.....BOOOOOMMMMMM!     Under red, they came up to my car and told me I was DQ'd for leaving the track under red.  I argued with 3 different officials, they told me to get off the track.....

i took my push truck to orland raceway to help out with the last points race they had this year a few weeks ago and they had a true stock v8 class. there were two enduro cars racing in it already and i plan on racing my car there next season on saturday nights. the new improved track is better but it is still just dirt. either to wet or too dusty with mud holes.

I was in Orland this weekend and heard mention that Orland Raceway will run a full schedule next year. I tried to get the new track number but was unsuccesful. Does anyone care about racing there before I go threw the steps of contacting them? I for one liked the little track! You can respond here or e-mail me.

I’ve been watching enduro for at least 10 years and I’ve only driven in 5.  I basically sucked at driving but had a blast.  I agree with everyone who says that the top drivers are better drivers.  You know when you see a gigantic Lincoln keeping up with an almost-street-stock Camaro that there are some incredible skills out there.  The problem is that Roseville sucks lately for the fans because of one reason – car counts are too low to create any of the mayhem that enduro has always been about.  The track tried to create the mayhem artificially with the tires and k-rails but that didn’t seem to do anything but piss the drivers off.  So my thought is this: the initial inspection should be safety only – let any safe car race, period.  After the race, there is an unofficial winner, check the car out – if the vacuum is too low, DQ. Rear end locked – DQ, etc...  Now, move to the second car and do the same thing.  Keep moving down the positions until there is a real winner.  If you did this just a few times – none of those kickass drivers are going to show up with obvious violations.  They will probably still win though….but maybe it will be a little closer.

Sure Loren. We need to take away that bottom groove for sure though. Absolutely no k-rail though. I liked the hay bails. I thought it was a good idea. It really messed with a few cars without destroying them. I will let you know for sure about meetings.

Thanks Ken,

Those guy's were fast and I was in 4th by the 8th lap. It was really cool how they started us going clockwise and everybody was set-up to go the other direction. The yellow Impala of Tim Dahl was really fast but had a racer's nightmare of a weekend with busting a spindel on Sat. and smashing the car into the wall early in the race on Sun. The 21 car got DQ'd with low vacuum. One or two things were interesting about the end running and end of that race. While I was running behind the #3 car (going clockwise the first 1-8 laps) he was dumping gas onto the track everywhere on the track. He ignored the black for 4 to 5 laps. I feel that to be a major violation. Then he pulls into the infield for the red.(Tim Dalhs crash).I can see them trying to get him repaired. WE wait for way too long and all of a sudden they decide to turn us back around. My car was still mainly set up for the suprise direction of an enduro so I  started 10th and was now in 4th. It appaered that clockwise wasn't working the best for some guy's. Then it was do my best to keep 4th until I got hit and broke a LR tire. When I pulled into the infield I had a swarm of people on my tire and that my friends is what I call "The Sh*t." I was in and out of there. Thanks to all that helped me this weekend. Big thanks to Tony and Carrol for putting on a fantastic weekend. The people involved and and all the great racing made it one of the times of my life.
I'LL SEE YOU ALL IN THE COLD  ON NEW YEAR'S EVE!!!!!!! Thanks to the Lewis's, Fast Freddy Jr. & Sr. (thanks for not hitting my car with golf balls. I'm sure it was tempting)  Wayde & Lisa, and everyone else involved.

Larry, I like the idea of a claim but maybe just motor,or carb,or shocks. Not the car itself. This will not work bottom line because all your top running cars are against it,while all your middle of the pack cars are for it. If we stick to the WCE rules for roseville next year it comes down to teching. You know as well as i do if you teched to a t on the rules there wouldnt be many cars racing that night. Its hard because tracks are letting cars go through without tech because they want a good count, and on the other hand there are the guys who finish 5-10th every race who dont have a chance to win so now they are not happy. We need to decide as a group on what to do here. we need to eather open the rules up to pretty much everythings legal, or stick to what we got and follow them to a t. This way when you get a dq you cant cry about it. There have been plenty of visual things that i can see on alot of cars just walking by them in the pits. So again we need to decide to eather bring what ever you want,or follow rules to a t and start dq ing people. I will say after the race there was supposed to be a major tear down on a few cars but it was decided against at the last minute.I was dissapointed in that but i was just a spectator .What are your thoughts guys?

Now I could care less because all the cars are the same. Plus it don't matter how big your motor is. We are not drag racing. Have all the power you want but if you can't get it to handle in the corners it does you no good.

What is going to be the consequince (sorry not good at spelling) for me saying no? So I get dq'ed? Big deal. I still keep my car. If someone wants to spend $$$$ to make their car faster go for it. At this point it don't really matter what the rules are because the tracks are going to do what they want anyways. There is really no way to control it tell there is a promoter who is willing to step in and take over WCE. Then there would be a set of techs who would dq a car and not let it come back next race tell it was fixed. Right now a driver could get dq'ed at Stockton and then go to Roseville the next weekend with the same car and the same thing would get looked over.

If you finished in the top 10 you would be able to claim another car for$--- plus your car. Everyone would have a 2,02,98,92 car at a fraction of the cost. This would cost the race car builders several more thousand dollars building several race cars or force them to move up in a class for race cars. By doing this everyone would still have a car to race and eventully level the field. This is a far out idea but the sport needs a better handle on the cars(teching isn't working). Several cars were DQed this year only to come back the next week with no changes?????

We got rooms at the Ambassador Hotel for 59.00, not to bad and seems like a
pretty nice place. The #14, #4, #60, and #2(very first race)from Coalinga will
be there along with the #2c mini. Were might be a little short on help also with
all these cars.

Im glad to see that stirring the pot got Rosevilles' attention. I wish everyone the best in their negotiations representing WCE. Maybe next year...we'll see. I went down that road with them last year, it seems that they are more willing to listen now. I hope you get some positive results because I know that there are alot of drivers who may want to come back....and I may be one of them. However, I have taken a liking to Stockton 99 and after dealing with them directly for many hours to accomplish a better car count...I felt I had no choice but to let everyone know how we were being treated. I hope this has gone a long way and is fresh on their minds during negotiations. it should be. I will leave it alone this year...good luck to all

Done. Its just frustrating that everyone on here bitches about Roseville this and Roseville that. I am taking this on trying to get a feel for everyones needs and nobody responds/ I will just represent the group then.Im not going to beg people anymore. i will discuss issues with the track that i think will benifit everyone. I haer ya loud and clear on the rules, leave them alone.I really would like for people to tell me about payouts, entry, lap amounts, dates, qualifying, how they start race and things like that. Like i said if i do not get much input i will just do the best i can to help everyone out.

Now since it seems like everyone wants to keep rules as they are is everyone ok with enforcing them next year? If i have a set of rules in my hand that says 21" vacummn at 1000 rpms and your motor is putting out 16" you wont be mad when you get dq'ed right? We need to be consistant. Its no good to have a set of rules if you do not enforce them right? I just want everyone to be clear that im pretty sure the teching will increase next year to the WCE rules. This is the last time i will ask for input. Thanks

I would say 2 big ones. As far as the raffle car goes that is a GREAT idea! I know years ago at Ukiah Speedway they did that for a Bomber Car. For $5 you could buy raffle tickets to win the car. Every week they would have the car there and have it do some laps around the track and give kid rides. They gave the car away on the last race of the season and the guy who won it raced it that night.

Ok Ken good points. I didnt want to reward the top guys anymore than they already are. I would like to spred it out & add in some random prizes as well.I have a fresh 77 monte carlo i might be willing to donate to someone,or even raffle it off and use that money to buy items for drivers?Would you rather have 2 larger paying enduros,or 3-4 regular ones?

I would really like to get a championship series going. it can be Roseville only or Stockton & madera too. I have not tried madera yet But i have emailed Stockton with no responce? As far as ci there is nothing you can do if a 305 or 350 ect. came with that car. If a 502 is stuffed in a camero then we have issues.

I spoke to the promoter. She stated that they do not have transponders and each
driver shall supply a counter. The mini enduro is scheduled for 230 in the
afternoon with the v-8 enduro afterwards (430?)

She mentioned Holiday inn in Hisperia offers a better deal if you mention
race09. I called today and they dont know anything about the special code so I
will continue to work with them to see what the rate is.
Holiday Inn number is 760-244-7674

so far about 10 cars preregistered, they expect a bunch of day of registrations
but my guess is that they wont pay 4000 to win because they wont get 100 cars.

Who else is going? Last race till New years eve!

so, we are looking for a new monte/regal/ grand prix/cutlass to build next year's enduro car.  Figure since we have most of the parts, stay with the same type (and considering ours is pretty much toast.)   Well, it is easy to see one of the challenges to our car counts.  The 70's and 80's cars are very difficult to find at a reasonable price...   Just a comment (o.k., I'm a little annoyed by the high prices people want for their junk)..   But, I think our goal to building this class involves opening up the division to as many low priced cars as possible, and then maybe finding a way to help people get safe roll cages built cheaply.   I am not exactly certain how we go about the second part, but it seems to me that (more than rules) can help us get car counts back into the 30's....

Calistoga only runs sprints cars as far as I can remember. That is a big track too. 1/2 mile I think.

Chris-
What year of car are you looking for? 70's or 80's?

so, we are looking for a new monte/regal/ grand prix/cutlass to build next year's enduro car.

Mark-
I don't mind it BUT what keeps a dq'ed car from going to another track and getting away with it?

> Here is where I think this is a bad idea and will not work. Say I win the race, you finish say 5th. You want to claim my car and I say no.
