Re: [westcoastenduroracing] Kings Sppedway Results by Gary Jacob
What a nightmare weekend that was. Started out 1.5 hours behind because when went to hook up trailer found the friggin' neighborhood kids had ripped plug off end of cord, 7 wires hanging w/ no clue as to what was what, 49 possible combinations, after 1.5 hours got brake lights & turn signals but that was it. Had a tire lose it's tread on way up right before getting a ticket doing 82 in a 55. DOOHH!!! I don't even wanna know what that's gonna cost, I bet I won't be able to go to traffic school, anybody know? Anyway races were supposed to start at 600, at 730 they had drivers meeting, you heard how the night went except that some new person there watered the track about twice as much as Chico ever had, It took our 11 cars & a bunch of 4wd trucks about 2 hours to somewhat pack the track. I tried to argue that they actually had an enduro track & should just let us go do 50 to 100 laps, obviously they didn't do it even though we actually had 8 enduro cars & 1
pure stock there? I got 2nd from 4th start in heat, started 6 in main & got to second on 1st lap despite loosing power steering belt on 1st lap. held through a few cautions, maybe 20 green flag laps & belt must of took out rest of them, got hot & pulled off, didn't even try to go back out. Turns out mud was packed in solid between a-frames & tie-rods, crossmember & drag link, shroud & crank pulleys, I'm surprised they stayed on that long. that mud was deep, enough so that you could sail into the corner & if you got out of groove it would slow you down like getting glued to track. Anyway after a shitty day I couldn't even head home cause I had no running lights, waited til 0500 in morning & took off. About 30 minutes down the road the spare we put on at track blew out completely, it was smaller than regular tires & couldn't take the weight I suppose, put tire back on w/ no tread & drove back to Hanford to find a tire shop. 930 we are
finally back on road after pep boys opened & I got a truck tire. This is what time I should of been getting back to Santa Rosa! 1.5 hours later a 2nd tire started loosing it's tread, rather than go backwards we decided to go ahead to Santa Nella, next chance at tires. Only 18 wheeler stuff there, asshole sent me 28 miles down 1 lane road to los Banos (was 4 miles back up freeway), found 5 tire shops all closed on Sunday. Found a little mexican garage w/ big wheels etc. & had a tire close to my size, had to flare out fender for clearance & off we go again. just before richmond bridge a 3rd tire started loosing tread, said screw it went all way home on it. I've never had anywhere near that much trouble on a trip. my 4 hour ride ended up being 11 hours. Very expensive & didn't have any fun the whole time. I don't know what's up w/ the track there but they aren't going to be able to survive like that. I still hope they get it together because it can be an
awesome place to race. Anyway hopefully I can get everything turned around this week & make it to Roseville. Dan Ken <winlandracing@...> wrote:
