I was thinking to post something before when India was playing in Pakistan, but decided not to because I was busy debating for Sourav on the other sites where some of us would hate to visit.
Sourav Ganguly has not been selected for the first test against England. I personally think he will not be selected for the rest of the series either. His International career is over (God forbid). Why his career is over? The plain & simple answer is “Dirty Politics” by CMDA (Chapel More Dravid Association) it’s true that Sourav’s recent (2003-2005) performances were not good, but he was the captain of the side & able to maintain his career average more than 40 in tests & ODIs. India did very good under his captaincy & also he made Indian cricket bigger than Bollywood. Trust me it’s bigger than Bollywood and this credit should go to him & John Wright. After Azar, Indian cricket team was a “mess”. Sourav build this “Team India

Everybody knows by now that this CMDA is playing a very “dirty politics”. I would like to focus only 2006 instead of Zimbabwe tour & Sourav–Chapel episode (Everybody knows who this Chapel is).
Sourav got selected in the test squad against Pakistan & we Sourav-lovers were so excited about it & wanted to see his performance. But Sourav did not get an opportunity to bat in the first Test against Pakistan at Lahore. The question is WHY? The reason was Politics. I believe some of you know the reason & remember the video of Sourav Dravid & Chapel, where Sourav was blasting Rahul & Chapel was the spectator. Let me start from the night before where Rahul personally told Sourav that he would play the first test as an opener. Sourav said “beggars can’t be choosers”.  I was shocked when I read that on the newspaper that Sourav said that to a reporter about his new role as an opener. Hey that’s Sourav, that’s why he is the greatest captain of the Indian cricket. On the first day of the first test as soon as Dravid found that the pitch was a batsman’s heaven he decided to open the inning. Ganguly was mentally prepared to open the inning & at the eleventh hour Dravid changed everything & Sourav blasted him about his decision. Media started blaming Sourav that he did not want to open & Sourav could not say anything because of the pressure of CMDA on him.
Then he was dropped in the second one. I knew that he would be dropped.
In the third Test at Karachi he played, he may not have got centuries, but scored 34 and 37 in the two innings, when the other senior batsmen barely managed to reach double-digit scores. Dravid scored 3 and 2, Sehwag 5 and 4, Sachin 23 and 26 and Laxman 19 and 21. So many poor scores on a sporting wicket by our great batsmen. In each innings, Ganguly scored more runs than that of Sehwag, Dravid and Tendulkar put together. This should at least prove that there is still a bit of cricket left in him.
Nothing in Indian cricket follows simple logic, there is a great deal of politics involved at every step. Many talented cricketers have fallen victim to the tussle between two groups vying for control of the Indian cricket establishment. Ganguly has such a good Test and ODI record that the decision to dump him is nothing short of an insult. Former Pakistani captains, Zaheer Abbas and Rameez Raja, too, feel that Ganguly has been judged wrongly. They have clearly said that he should have been judged on the way he scored and not how much. And even if he were to be judged on his score, he should have made the cut, given the scores of others

Yuvraj Singh said. "Sourav has played 48 Test matches as a captain and of course I am sure he'll be out there. He will be there in the team for the first Test," Yuvraj said. The flamboyant player also praised Ganguly's leadership qualities. "He is a great leader and mentally very strong. He's always supported me and given me a lot of confidence. I respect him."
Now Yuvraj received a memo from board to “Shut up”.  CMDA rules & it’s really bad for Indian cricket.

Former cricketer Navjyot Singh Sidhu said he regretted that Sourav Ganguly was axed when the former captain was batting well. "The cricketer who completed his 10,000 runs in one-day matches and has distinction of winning a number of international matches under his captaincy, was shown the door when he was batting well".

I am not surprised that Sourav has been dropped from the squad because I know this CMDA & their politics where they think Kaif is better than Sourav, but I also know that he is a great fighter & love to see him back in action again. Let us all pray for him.
