Arise..Awake..Fight: Save KKR, its captain and Indian Cricket icon Sourav Ganguly, from malicious motive of John Buchanan

Background (Preamble): 

Indian cricket lovers, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) team supporters, Sourav Ganguly fans across globe are greatly shocked, flabbergasted and humiliated by the very recent sweeping ‘four formula’ statement on captaincy issue of Kolkata Knight Riders’ team, expounded by Mr. John Buchanan, the current Director of cricket operation of KKR. 

In recent joint press conference at Eden Garden, Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Director of cricket operation, John Buchanan expressed his four captain theory where Sourav, KKR captain 2008, would become just one of the four captains! Buchanan wants to implement this in the real match scenario where each being assigned a special area- batting, bowling, fielding, wicket keeping focusing on in a match situation like T 20  cricket where action is frenetic and almost instantaneous.

According to Buchanan’s weird ‘four formula’ , Mathew Mott (chief coach) may be the  batting captain when team is batting, McCullum as the fielding captain when team is on filed and someone like Gayle or LR Shukla as bowling captain to assist the main captain who will go for toss. 

Millions of cricket fan across globe perceive this theory as a conspiracy against Sourav Ganguly and the crux of this controversy is - power struggle where Buchanan wants to hog more lime light which is bit difficult if Sourav remains captain at his own backyard Kolkata. Cricket lovers also apprehend that without the morale support of section of KKR management, Buchanan may not have attempted such a ludicrous and obnoxious thing which will eventually turn cricket into a circus with some cheap entertainment value.  

We Indian cricket lovers see this theory of John Buchanan as a deliberate malicious ploy and attempt towards statistically the most Successful Indian cricket Captain and mentor of ‘Team India’ concept, an illustrious international cricket icon and captain of KKR 2008--Mr.Sourav Ganguly.  

Well known for his fiery brand of cricket captaincy, sourav Ganguly had performed multiple duties at international level cricket with great finesse and élan and is profoundly revered for his matured instinctive style of stewardship on field. 

For better understanding, one should take a note of the following statistics which proves how Sourav Ganguly led KKR from front like a true leader in 2008 with his charismatic all round performance proved by his three man of the match awards. Despite missing most of the international players in the team last year, it was Sourav and his men who showcased some brave performance and missed semi final berth by a whisker.

• Sourav  scored 349 runs in 13 matches with average of 29.08 which is 11th highest in the tournament
• Sourav  took 6 wickets with  an economy of  6.4
• He is in the sixth place in six hitters in the tournament with 15 sixes.
• He is in the top ten catchers with 5 catches.  
• He is in the top ten fifty hitters with 3 fifties.
• He got two back-to-back Man of the match (MoM) awards -606ql three MoM.
• He got two DLF maximum six hitters awards.

The conscious comments at press conference by Mr. John Buchanan to media were without any provocation from any sector of Cricket or from the person on whom the immediate impact was thrust upon. We Indians experience this new theory of captaincy as a deliberate ploy of Mr. John Buchanan, where he wanted to malign profoundly the image of the game and Mr.Sourav Ganguly in public by dethroning Sourav and leaving him battered and bruises in his own backyard.

 
We Indians, KKR supporters and Sourav Ganguly fans are extremely annoyed and upset over Buchanan's ridiculous gesture towards the game and Sourav per se on KKR captaincy issue and want to bring the whole issue to the notice of Kolkata Knight Riders’ management and BCCI, the IPL organizing body and parent body of Indian cricket. 

Unless this kind of hilarious experimentation which is an affront of great degree towards the game is stopped with immediate effect, the very basic contour of the game will be fragile soon.

On behalf of --- Indian cricket lovers, Kolkata Knight Riders’ supporters and millions of fans of former Indian cricket captain Mr.Sourav Ganguly, www.welovesourav.com and its fraternity, world cricket fraternity and finally countrymen we bring this very disturbing issue into the notice of Sports ministry of Govt. Of. India and Board of Cricket Control of India (BCCI) with a very strong demand that - 
 
BCCI with the help of ICC should take an exemplary action at IPL with an immediate effect, so that in future none can play around with the very basic contour of cricket in name of innovation and strategy and malign game’s ethics and etiquette.

 
2. KKR Management must take necessary exemplary action against John Buchanan’s theory for ridiculing the ethos of cricket and should dump ‘four captains formula’ with immediate effect and reinstate Sourav Ganguly as the  only captain of KKR for IPL 2009 like IPL 2008. 

3. BCCI and Sports ministry of India should take a note of the fact that an obnoxious nexus between a section of KKR Management and its Director of cricket operation, John Buchanan is trying to malign the image of cricket by debasing it to a circus with some clownish comments and action. The sanctity of the game should be maintained at any cost and it should not be replaced by just entertainments and gimmicks. 
 
4.Mr. John Buchanan has to withdraw his weird ‘four formula’ of captaincy with immediate effect through a press conference otherwise Kolkata, Bengal and KKR fans will boycott all KKR matches.  

We appeal to all true Indian sports lovers to sign this petition and forward the same to others to save cricket as a game and Kolkata Knight Riders’ as a cohesive team. 
More over Indian sports hero and national pride –Sourav Ganguly’s image as a captain should be up held and saved from the malicious captaincy theory of a foreign coach.
