Hi Everybody,
As promised here is some information about how I would like collegiate
cyclocross in the WCCC to run. If you have any opinions, objects, or
enhancements please let me know privately via email.
1. I do not want collegiate Cyclocross races to take place on the
same weekends as collegiate mountain bike races. I feel that this
would provide a conflict of interest that is not fair to all the hard
work of our mountain bike promoters.
2. If you planning on promoting or helping to promote a collegiate
Cyclocross race, the following must be satisfied:
Shared Promotion with a local non-collegiate group:
--You must have permission of the promoter emailed or sent to me
that they are ok with your joint promotion of their event.
--You must outline how you are sharing the promotion
responsibilities so that I know you aren't just mooching off them ;-)
School only hosting/Promotion:
--You are encouraged to offer collegiate only races
--You are allowed to run elite races, provided you follow all USAC rules
--If feasible you may combine collegiate and elite categories.
General for both of the above:
--All collegiate riders will pay no more than the 15 dollar
collegiate entry fee.
--All collegiate riders must register as a collegiate racer and
not an elite USAC racer.
--Riders racing collegiately must have their collegiate licenses
verified in order to get collegiate points and to get the collegiate
race fee.
--Riders racing collegiately may not collect prizes or money for
their participation in a combined collegiate/elite Cyclocross race.
--Points will only be counted from for Men's A,B,C and Women
A,B,C towards an end of the season prize.
--No WCCC surcharge will be collected for Cyclocross races for
the time being.
3. The end of the season prize will either be conference omnium
medals and/or omnium champion jerseys if enough races are held.
4. Once you know that you will be promoting or helping to promote a
race please send me the following:
--Event name
--Race date(s)
--Promoter name/organization
--Who you are and what school you represent.
5. Once I get a list of races offering collegiate opportunities I
will post it to the group.
6. Remember this a very grass roots movement so to be successful it
will take a lot of your on your parts. Also since this is the first
time we will be attempting the joint promotion with non-collegiate
groups, we must not screw up those relationships on this first go
around. I am here to provide any help or direction you may need and I
am willing to talk with promoters as needed.
7. Besides not conflicting with mountain and possibly the road bike
season, Cyclocross races have no date restrictions.
8. I am very open to all suggestions, so feel free to send me an email.
Alright I think thats everything, drop me an email if I forgot something :-)
thanks
HH
