Hello Everybody,
I hope all of your summers are going well. Please read through the
following info and let me know if you have any questions. Also please
forward this email to your team lists so that everybody is update in
what's going on in the WCCC Mountain bike world.
1. Make sure you check the mountain bike category that is listed on
your license. You can also check that category on usa cycling's
website in the my usa cycling section. If you feel your category is
not correct please submit an upgrade request using the online system.
There are only a couple of reason why a listed category may not be correct.
First you have raced in previous mountain bike seasons as a category
higher than is currently listed.
Second you have never raced collegiate mountain bike, but you feel
that starting at entry level would be not fair/safe for you/your
competitors. When you submit your online upgrade request please
justify why you think you deserve that upgrade, either with a race
resume if you are using reason number one or a good explanation as to
why you fall into the second reason listed above.
Please take care of this as soon as possibly to avoid race day
category confusion. Once your upgrade goes through, please print out
an authorization to ride or get your license reissued. Also please
buy your annual licenses if you are going to race the whole mountain
bike season. This will help to assure the conference gets maximum
representation at nationals. I will be happy to answer any questions
you may have regarding the above information.
2. I wanted to clarify how points will be scored at UCSC's mountain
bike race that is occurring the same weekend as mountain bike
nationals. Its simple, basically Men's and Women's As will not be
scored for either individual omnium or team omnium. All other
categories will be scored as usual. The Men's and Women's As races
will still take place during this weekend for A's who don't go to
nationals.
3. In light of last year's unfortunate events, I will be publishing a
code of conduct for the mountain bike season. This code of conduct
will also be used for the road season. Please look for this code of
conduct in the upcoming week.
4. Finally I am finalizing an email regarding WCCC Cyclocross Races.
Please also look for this email in the coming weeks. If you have any
input and have not already sent me an email about cyclocross please do
so as soon as possible.
thanks for reading and let me know if you have any questions,
HH
