Avid Conservationist to meet fans and Discuss Environmental Issues
(PressZoom.com) - HALIFAX, VA— Ward Burton, an all-time great NASCAR
driver and avid conservationist, is appearing at the 2009 Eastern Sports
and Outdoor Show®, presented by Chevrolet (Feb. 7-15) on February 10 &
11.
Ward Burton made the NASCAR Cup series in 1994, and today is considered
one of the all-time best in NASCAR, with five Nextel Cup racing wins
under his belt, including the coveted 2002 44th Daytona 500 Champion
title.
However, it may be his work as a conservationist that many see as his
greatest and most-lasting achievement.
Burton and his foundation, The Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation
(www.twbwf.org), are pioneers in environmental education and advocacy,
resource protection, and habitat restoration. Burton has dedicated his
life to giving back our natural resources to the next generation.
"Our natural resources are like a child, they have no real voice. We can
either nurture or abuse them. It is our inherited responsibility as
Americans to give our natural resources a positive voice for future
generations to come," said Burton.
The foundation is recognized by leaders at every level of government and
has partnered with several leading conservation organizations to develop
state-of-the-art environmental and engineering programs.
These projects serve as a conservation model both regionally and
nationally.
Burton is committed to global environmental policy issues from renewable
energy that enable landowners to access federal and state programs that
protect their land in perpetuity and allow for the land to be passed
down from generation to generation with minimal financial impact.
