Gosh, I still love Ward. And he gave me 10 great years as a Ward
Burton fan. Racing isn't the same to me without him in it but if he
never comes back, that's okay. I've grown to accept it. If he wants
to come back fine, but if he's content at home then more power to
him. I know he probably wants to race in a competitive situation. I
will never understand why he hasn't received the respect in this
sport that he has so dearly deserved. I watch drivers like Ken
Schrader, Mike Bliss, Travis Kvapil, Mike Wallace, Jason Leffler,
Hermie Sadler and, yes, even Scott Wimmer, etc., etc., etc., go out
there nearly every week and run a few useless laps for the most part
but no one wants to take a chance on a proven winner like Ward?
Someone with principles and morals and talent? I will never
understand it. But I will always love Ward even though the love of
the sport has waned for me quite a bit since he left.
