sunny and it's all very exciting! Please send in your waivers and
check as soon as possible! If you have trouble looking at the
schedule (it's in the Files section) please let me know.

I am still having problems logging in,
obviously I'm getting the emails, and i can see the number of postings
but the for members only part of it is dead to me.
Hopefully Ben and I can work on this afterpractice
but in the meantime can you send me the schedule or at least let me know my
gametime for this weekend?
Thanks,

Hi all,
I've been on vacation but I'm back and I think the schedule looks great!
Everyone should thank Howie (from JDS) when you see him out there. Everyone
gets seven scheduled games, plus the wafc jr. tournament and the sidwell
tournament. Awesome. As for getting waivers and payment in, mail them in if
you think they'll get there by Friday and if not, bring them to the games on
Sunday so we can make sure you have everything in. We really don't want anyone
to miss any games, so we're going to be as flexible as we can, but no one can
play without their wafc waiver signed.

Hey All-
The schedule is now completed and posted, you can access it in the
files section.
There are currently no official games scheduled for the weeks April
4th and 11th due to half of the team's spring breaks occuring during
that period. For those teams that are around feel free to use those
weekends to schedule your own games or if the spring break teams can
field teams we can work extra games in during those weeks.
As of now though, the current schedule has every team playing each
other team once during season play.
If you can't see the schedule let me know and I will try to send it
out in another way.
Howie
thanks for the ideas everyone. the idea of combining schools would be a
possibility, but i think seed and st. john's are too far away to make that
work. also, when i mentioned that i had 8 students ready to play, i was
unaware that two of them were already playing on the tennis team and were
planning on quitting tennis if we got a league team together. as i told
those students, I don't think you quit a sport you've committed to even if
another comes along that you prefer. so, in essence, i think i have 6 that
can play. if another school does come along that is close by and has low
numbers, though, let me know. thanks,
mike

I can only speak for Blair, but hey, the more teams the merrier. If Seed and
St. John form together, we wouldn't have any objections.

We got a little late start but we are sending our money, roster, and waivers in tommorow, we have 13 guys ready to play. Two of the guys still need to fill out their waivers, thats not a problem is it?

Dave, nice to run into you again!(Even though it’s

The idea is great, but I don’t have any kids right
now, because we never even started recruiting for it.So, I’m not sure the idea is even
plausible at this time. Although, if people are in favor of the idea, I could perhaps
broach the subject with the athletic director.
However, it is true that 8 teams will be better than
9.

i know it doesn't quite work with the school team
concept, but would anybody else object to combining SEED
and St Johns? It seems like they are both close enough that
together they could be there. It might make for some interesting socio-economic

Guys,
Unfortunately, I don't think St. John's is going to be able to field a team
after all. I've got 8 students that really want to play, but they/I haven't
been able to recruit more players (several of the guys that played casually
in the fall opted to give our new rugby team a try this spring instead). In
any case, given occasional absences and the need for a few subs, we would be
hard pressed to field a full team most weeks. Like SEED, I'd rather wait
until we can commit fully and do it right. However, many thanks to all
those who have made a high school ultimate league possible. Hopefully St.
John's will have a team in it next year.

Blair seniors graduate 6/3, and while I'm still going to be here for
a while to the best of my knowledge, I don't know about a lot of our
other 04 kids.
Hi Jonathan,
Our graduation day is June12 and I'm not sure if our seniors will all
be around immediately thereafter, so March probably works better for us
than June...

Hi WAFC Jr.
Here's where we're at. Nine teams have committed. They are:
Yorktown
Blair
Sidwell
Wilson
New School of Northern Virginia
BCC
St. John's
JDS
The Heights School
I am still hoping to get Churchill or Georgetown, etc. Please email
me if you are from one of those schools. Not only would it be better
for the league, but as I'm pretty sure it will be easier to make a
schedule with 10 than with nine. Also, if you haven't put dates on
the calendar that your team cannot make, do so as soon as possible.
***Here are the next steps:
1) Make a roster. The excel file is in the "Files" section of this
Yahoo! group. Print it out and put everyone's name on there. This
doesn't have to be perfect - don't worry if you don't have all of
your players on it.
2) Waivers. Get your players/their parents to sign them. You can find
the waiver in the same Files area of the Yahoo! group. It's a word
document. Just print it out, make copies, and pass them out at
practice. Every player needs to have one of these before they play,
but you can add players as the season goes on.
3) Money. The league costs $250/team for the entire season. There are
two ways to pay. First, you can write a check to WAFC. Or second, you
can pay via paypall on the WAFC website: www.WAFC.org. If you pay via
PayPal please include a little message about it being for a WAFC Jr.
team. All of your players will receive discs.
4) Send the three above things (roster, waivers, and money if it's a
check) to WAFC at:
Washington Area Frisbee Club
1808 N. Quantico Street
Arlington, VA 22205-2030
Finally, it looks as though we might not be starting the season until
March 28 and that we might extend it a little later in June. Let me
know if that is a problem for anyone, but it seems to be better for
most teams.
****We would like to have all this stuff in by the 20th of March*****
Let me know if I can help, but I wil be away 3/16-3/22. If you have
problems then, email the list with your question and someone ought to
respond.
Jonathan
I have two procedural questions. 1. Who should I give the WAFC waivers to when I get them back? 2. I'm assuming if I send WAFC money via aypal they'll know what to do with it right?
hello cara brown!
glad to see you found your way into coaching ultimate and working with
kids
4 years after our failed attempts.
congratulations!

Anyway,
I don’t think SEED can put together a team this year. We
have space for it this spring and I was really pushing for it, but the
athletic director wants to make sure that if it happens, it really happens. If
you start up a charter team, then please let me know… I may be able to
find some kids for that kind of endeavor. The
athletic director here is going to try to put ultimate in to the PE curriculum
next year and hopefully spark interest that way so that we can develop
a team for next year.Getting kids
motivated at SEED is a major event and a slow process. They
had problems getting kids on the basketball teams this year.(It’s
the first year of any sort of athletic program.)
Anyway,
that’s our situation for now.
Good
luck with everything.If you ever
need help with clinics or something and need a teacher/helper, please let
me know.It would a great way for
me to get some of the SEED kids out.

[wafcjr] Update
Hi
WAFC Jr.
We are hoping to have the
list of teams that are playing by the end of this weekend. The bad
news is that Sundays don't work well for the Field School and Maret because
their students receive PE credit for ultimate. I'm not sure if
they're going to end up being able to do it or not, but if they can't,
I would like to encourage all the schools to schedule games with them
at other times.
So far, the teams that are
in, as far as I can tell (meaning, they put their info in the 'Database'
section), are: Yorktown Blair Sidwell Wilson New School of Northern Virginia BCC St. John's JDS (Their contact info
isn't in there but that's because their invite got messed up)
That's eight teams. I would
be shocked if Georgetown Day and Cathedral didn't join the
league; they've had teams for years. Where are you guys? Same to MacGruder,
SEED, etc. Please let me know if you'll be able to field
a team. If you have any problems, please let me know.
Also, almost no teams have
put dates on the calendar when they cannot play (so far only Wilson,
Sidwell, and JDS have). If you can make any Sunday we schedule you for,
that's fine. Otherwise, please mark the Sundays that your school
will be able to attend.
Thanks Cara, hopefully things will work out next year. jonathan

I am suffering from the same lame disease, and had a "senior" moment.
Please change my address to "Howard County High Schools (general)".
Also, can we add a new field for home and work telephone #'s and e-
mail addresses? This database idea is the best! No more Excel
spreadsheets! I even notice that chatkan ("bad dog") has finally re-
surfaced - wow, that is some pull! My work phone (I have no cell) is
(410) 765-8167 and home e-mail is "kelseypw@...".
Quick update. I am in the process of sending out a questionnaire to
all of the students. I am asking if they would be interested in
hosting a tournament on the 22/23 May. So mark your calendars just in
case we do this! (I hope we do,it's a great way to knit these teams
together.)
Did you guys get a hold of Ben Johnson of Magruder? His cell # is:
(301) 503-3980. I (still) can not tell if he registered his team up
here or not. If he did not, the opportunity is there for him to
register for WAFC. Jonathan or Ben, can you give him a quick call?
Looks like we will have 5 teams up here for spring. Hope to double
that next fall (OK mebbe jsut 8). Look forward to a travel league
next fall (hint, hint Dan & Chris?). All for now.
Bill Kelsey
Howard Co. MD
I can't change my contact info either so feel free to change the
address I listed to St. John's College H.S. (and remove it from
next to my last name).
Thanks,
Mike
I have short term memory problems. Can you change my contact address
to Montgomery Blair HS. I don't have permission to change what I
entered.
Thanks,
chatkan
Opie,
You honestly are the man.
Thanks,
