I had mentioned this earlier this fall:
Application deadlines for this summer's Junior World's Team are upon us.

There are teams for either gender and I would encourage anyone who is considering to apply.
1) The application a good reflective, self analysis excercise if nothing else.
2) Even if you just make the camp that's good physical excercise/training
3) Its a totally amazing opportunity to play ultimate with the best in the nation
4) If great players dont apply then the US could lose to Canada which would be horrible.
Besides this encouragement I can offer this.
You are supposed to get a recommendation from an adult who knows you and knows ultimate. I could be such an adult. What this would require is that this week in the evening, or more probably next week sometime (the 26th or 27th?) we get everyone who is interested together and you guys play with each other. I'll invite a couple of my college alumni studs, kids who have made the US National team before, and they can give you feed back, help with the evals. If we get enough interest it will be a little unoffical DC tryout camp. Email me ASAP if you are interested.

We live in one the best possible areas in the country for getting help with coaching. There are clinics all around us (Richmond Feb 2, Philly Feb 16, Baltimore March 1) Get your coach/sponsor/parent to one of these 1 day events and they will come back a wiser and more helpful coach with some sweet gear.
Also If your team participated in States last year you are qualified to apply to Easterns. If your team ends up playing at Easterns and makes it to the semi's only UPA certified coaches will be allowed near the field. Even if this is an unlikely scenario the requirnment for smart certified coaches will likely spread in the coming years. Get yours certified now.
As for the spring: things are looking pretty good with Easter interruptions happening way early. This will give us all of April and May for ultimate action. We'll look to early Feb for an organizational meeting. There's been some talk with the VA coaches about doing a post States Regionals this year.
