Fwd: [WAFC] WAFC Fall League Registration Open and Washington-Lee P   Message List

This message is delayed because I was in California,
Many of you may have already gotten this.
Any of you who love playing ultimate should act upon it.

If your team has a balance of genders I encourage you to register as a team and play in Clique C or D.

For refrence in the fall YHB divides our team up into 3 even teams and they all play in C league.  In the spring we divide up varsity seperate from JV and newbies.  Varsity plays in B and WAFC Jr, JV plays in D and newbies in WAFC Jr.
If your team does not have enough women for clique then your captains and anybody else who is serious about ulti should register with Rec League to play and learn.  Baggage in groups of 2 or 3.

Have fun,

Dave Soles

Subject: [WAFC] WAFC Fall League Registration Open and Washington-Lee Pick-Up

All,

WAFC Fall registration is now open at
http://www.wafcstore.org/register.html.  Registration for both leagues closes at midnight on August 31st, but space is limited so register early.  Once again, we will be offering a rec league and a clique league.  For the rec league, register as an individual, but you may baggage on significant others, relatives, and roommates.  For clique league, register as an entire team.  For clique league, please send all special requests to me by August 31st.  Since I will not get the list of teams until the weekend, I will not have time to email everyone and get additional requests before the schedule is complete.  Here are the general details.

Rec League

Description:  The WAFC Fall Rec League is open to any player in the D.C. metro area, although the focus of the league is to introduce newer players to the sport.  Experienced players are still welcome,
though, and are encouraged to serve as team captains (or co-captains).

First game: Sunday, September 9, 2007
End of season tournament: October 28 and November 4
Number of games: About 8 games + tournament games (# of games depends upon # of teams and field availability).
Game dates: Sundays
Location: Throughout the metropolitan area, including downtown DC; Arlington, VA; and Montgomery, Co., MD.  Most locations are metro accessible.

Clique League

Description:  The WAFC Fall Clique League is open to any ultimate team in the D.C. metro area. There are four divisions comprised of self-formed teams (A Division being the most competitive, followed by B Division, C Division, and D Division).

Due to field constraints the league will be capped at 72 teams.

Team captains will be required to submit team rosters and waivers during the second week of the season.
The league commissioner will provide additional details.  Players may join only one clique league team.

First game: Saturday, September 8, 2007
End of season tourney: Pool play: November 3 and 10, with final rounds on November 11.  Rain date the weekend of November 17-18.
Number of games: 7-8 + tournament games
Game dates: Saturdays
Game locations: Throughout the metropolitan area, including downtown DC; Arlington/Fairfax, VA; and Montgomery, Co., MD.  Most locations are metro accessible.
Gender ratio: For A and B Leagues, offense dictates 5/2 or 4/3 (men/women).  For C and D Leagues, 5/2 (although numbers permitting, captains may agree to play 4/3).
Bye & other requests: Requests should be sent to the league commissioner, Bill McNary (bill AT wafc DOT org).  Requests should include bye requests, field requests, time requests and the emails of any
co-captains.  Keep in mind, with 72 teams, it's impossible to satisfy every request.

Since WAFC has no control over the weather, WAFC cannot guarantee all scheduled games will be played.
Pick-Up
Pick-up will be played under the lights at the rainproof Washington and Lee fields in Arlington on Thursday, August 23rd and Tuesday, August 28th.  Games start at 7 pm after the high school football players are done with the field.
Bill
