in regards to the season, i was thinking we should start the
season earlier and possibly end it a little earlier. spring gets
broken up by spring break, easter, president's day, i don't know what
else. APs, graduation, senior week...
with a longer season that starts earlier, teams won't miss out on as many games due to those breaks. having a couple of games get rained out won't matter as much. plus, more games=more experience for everyone involved. now i'm not sure if wafc has the permits for the fields for february and march, but i felt like the season started really late last year and was very short.
as for the tournament, in the 2 years prep has had a team, we have not been able to play in the actual tournament because we get out earlier than other schools in the area. both years, we managed to field a team for pool play which has been after graduation for our seniors. however, this past year, we ran into 1.5 no-shows due to prom the night before, which meant the end of the season absolutely sucked for my guys. moving the tournament up a week or two would not only mean my team could actually play, but hopefully we'd be able to avoid teams not showing up.
speaking of no-shows, i understand that things come up, some weekends are bad, etc. all it takes is a phone call or email to let the other team know so that they don't waste half their day driving out to sligo and waiting around for someone to show up.
