1) Lot of you teams that have had programs for a while should be registered for Fall Tourneys. Of course you feel weak without your recent graduates, everyone does. But you wont get stronger without good competition. In addition its lots of fun to go on the road with your club for a day or two.
I'd reccomend the Tidewater Tune Up (11/11) or the Fall Brawl (10/21). Info for both can be found at
I expect to see teams like Blair, BCC, TJ or Heights attending at least one of those.
2) I got 2 emails today about the spring Tourney. We have always emphacized flexibilty in this league but often it results in teams not following through, not showing up, leaving thier opponents with no one to play. Very disrepectful and discouraging. I think we are going to have to be tougher/clearer about what it takes to be in the league, including a 100% commitment to all games.
One of the ways we have tried to be flexible is with the ending tourney. We let teams chose optional weekends, etc. Perhaps we could get better commitment if we decided on one weekend and stuck to it.
It is not easy:
The first weekend of June is to late for some schools so that's not good.
The last weekend of May is Memorial Day, and a lot of families make plans.
The weekend before that my team and I will be away (hopefully) at UPA Easterns
The weekend before that is inbetween AP Exam weeks
The weekend before that is the week right before AP exams.
So no weekend is perfect. Perhaps the best solution will be for you guys to do it with out me or my teams on May 19 - 20th. Ending in mid may will mean starting in Mid March. Are we ok with this?
Other folks thoughts??
