Fwd: YCC Applications Due Feb 28   Message List

As we discussed at our organizational meeting the UPA (our esteemed national organization) is promoting ultimate to be a school based sport at the high school level.  However they are willing, occasionally to let schools combine to make teams full of ringers. That sort of tournament this year will be held in early August in Minnesota.

There is a great deal of modern art that I do not understand.  I also dont really understand why people get so into wine, unspoiled fruit juice taste better and is a lot less expensive.   For similarly mysterious reason "explained" below the UPA is having the bids for this August tournament DUE on FEBURARY 28th!

So we should converse as a league: do we want to try to put together an "all star" team with some folks from each school and go play the best from Boston, Philadelphia, Oregon, and where ever else good ultimate is played?
We can submit bids in either Mens, Mixed or Womens divisions.  The application that is due at this point is not too rigorous.  We dont have to commit any particular people.  We just have say that we, as a league are interested.
Follow the link below and lemme know what the interest is in this.

ps. We would obviously need adult sponsors. (At this early point my summer plans are not yet clear.  I'd say I'm 50% likely to be able to help facilitate/attend.) Will, Ben, CP, BVH, Howie -- any of you guys eager to step up and lead this effort?

Subject: YCC Applications Due Feb 28

(please forward to anyone that may be interested)

Based on feedback from last year indicating that organizers wanted to have the
application process happen much earlier in the year, we've bumped everything up.
The application period for the 2006 YCC is going on right now, and actually ends
on Tuesday, Feb 28.  This is a last minute reminder to get your application
together if you want to send a team or teams to this summer's YCC.

Go through the UPA website to get the info you need.

I commit to a vague interest level, but a few of us have to see how USA tryouts go before we can really decide on ability to participate. Laura Swartz ... ...
