Re: [Wado Forum] Taijiquan

Hi Reg (and All),

I have a fairly convoluted martial arts background (see my out of
date but soon to be updated webpage at
http://www.p-k-j.org/content/trainedin.html
and I have attended a few Wado sessions over the years... Last year I
started taking regular(ish) classes in Wado (once a week) and a
couple of months ago I graded to red belt (second belt at my club)...
So I have been exposed to Wado kata - but more importantly I would
suggest that Karate (Wado, Goju, Uechi Ryu, Shotokan - you name it)
has a different way of utilising the body to Tai Chi - again NOT
better or worse - just different.

I would also suggest that all the major styles of Karate also have...
"a different way of utilising the body" to EACH OTHER - again NOT
better or worse - just different." - So I feel that studying Tai Chi
is a worthwhile thing to do and is complimentary to Wado in the same
way that I would argue you could study Shotokan and that could be
complimentary too <PUTS ON FLAK JACKET>

All the best.

Robert.

I'm going to disagree on much of this. As Reg noted it might be a bit early in your Wado career to offer much constructive criticism to the art. Essentially...
