Thanks for your views.

I think the usual Wado reply would to breathe as naturally as possible and
that you should be able to perform any movement breathing in, out or even
holding your breath.

You mention the body being vulnerable at the point of changing between in
and out and vice versa. I don't have any answer to this but I feel that if
the body is breathing in and you are hit which may cause your breathing
process to stop or force you to exhale, maybe that is more damaging as the
body is expecting air to come in.

Gordon, gotta have a stab here:- when you breathe out in Karate, most styles agree you should breathe out "through the stomach" and cause tension in the abs....

hey igor i agree with you completly shiomistu sensei showed me an interesting breathing tecknique about 20 yrs ago and i'm still practicing it lay on your back...
