Hello All,
This is not a test. This is a warning of things that may need to happen. If
and when we find out more about Isabel the Hurricane we may need to spring
into action. With the track of the storm heading in this way we may need to
move all our equipment out of the boathouse. If this were to happened
Wednesday is the day I would expect to have to do anything. At this point we
don't know exactly what to expect and the track of the storm will determine
a lot. If the storm heads straight up the Chesapeake this may cause the
water in the Potomac to surge back upstream and flood the river faster then
normal. With normal flooding we have 2-3 days after a large rain event
before there is any danger of flooding. We might not get that advanced
notice. I am working on details to secure housing for our boats if we were
to move them out of the boathouse.
What I need from everyone is to be ready if called upon. We won't need every
single person as too many cooks may spoil the soup. So please don't ask your
friends if they are not already affiliated with us to help. Just be ready in
case we do need to move. If we do I would call for everyone to meet at PBC
right after school on Wednesday. ODBC guys would be asked to miss practice
to help.
Again, nothing is planned at this point. We need to wait and watch what
develops. But please be ready to lend a hand and help us be prepared in case
we need to secure our equipment off site. Please let me know if you have any
questions.
Derek
