W-L Crewboosters:
Crew referees are essential to the sport of rowing, both to ensure the safety of our rowers and to ensure fair and impartial competion on the water. The National Capital Area Scholastic Rowing Association (NCASRA), which hosts most of the local regattas in which W-L participates, is holding two training clinics in the coming months to help in the recruiting of parent volunteers for these important positions.
The first clinic will be held November 17 at James Madison High School in Vienna from 8:00 am - 12:30 pm, while the second, an all day clinic, will be held on February 9 at a local area high school TBA. These clinics are designed to help parents new to the sport to determine if they would like to become a licensed USRowing referee.
For more information on the requirements for becoming a referee, you can go to the NCASRA website at http://www.ncasra.org/, and click on the "Referee Information" button on the left hand side of the page. And if you would like more information on the clinics themselves, feel free to contact Ryz Obuchowicz at ryz@... or send a note to me at RobertsCrew@....
