Dear Parents and other Friends of W-L Crew --
Welcome to the 2007-08 Crew season!
The first meeting of the Crew Boosters will be this Thursday, September 13, at 7:30 pm in Room 235 at W-L (just past the 2nd floor library entrance). The big kickoff meeting for new and returning rowers and parents will be in October, but anyone desiring a sneak preview of the season or with ideas to share with the Booster officers and coaches is encouraged to stop by for this week's short informal meeting.
For your calendars, Booster meetings are generally held the second Thursday of the month, at 7:30 pm.
This fall's meetings will be in Room 235 on September 13, October 11, November 8, and December 13.
Crew is a great sport in many ways, but it unfortunately is one of the more expensive. Just a reminder that the minimum fundraising requirement for returning rowers is $400 ($100 for novices). The poinsettia and mulch sales and the family & friends appeal provide opportunities for rowers to meet this requirement. More on that in October.
The "rent-a-rower" program is another fundraising opportunity. Rowers have their pay for yardwork, baby-sitting, or other odd jobs sent to the Crew Boosters and receive fundraising credit for that pay. People occasionally contact the Boosters or coaches for help in hiring rent-a-rowers. W-L Crew alum and Arlington resident Eric Dobson needs two rowers for about 2 hours to move stuff out of his attic and basement. Date is either Sept 22 or Sept 23. $20 of fundraising credit per hour per rower. If interested, contact Eric at eric.dobson@...
