Dear Crew Parent and Team Members,
The new school year season is a whisper away. W-L athletic teams are
organizing and looking forward to many opportunities for success.
These opportunities will be made available to individuals and teams.
Who will be ready to accept the challenge?
Our coaches are developing specific strategies that will tap into the
talents of our athletes. The vision is to develop leadership that
emphasizes good character, responsibility and respect for opponents,
fans, school staff and officials. The goal is to help participants
discover their strengths and improve upon weaknesses as they strive to
learn and win.
This crew season we will continue to improve upon last year. The
formula is not to do each task 5% better than the day before, but to
learn life skills that make us adaptable to change and help athletes
become resourceful and resilient adults.
Once again Sarah Harrick will lead the women's crew program and Derek
Parsons the men's. These separate, but equal teams will combine
experience and an excellent work ethic to produce a safe and
responsive climate. The coaching staff is identifying the service
they will provide and what they wish to produce. There will be
ongoing assessments of leadership and leadership opportunities. Each
team participant is expected to promote individual responsibility for
safety and a top-level performance. The plans revolve around an
athletic experience that is authentic and affirming. I am looking
forward to a great year on and off the water. Go Generals!
Respectfully,
Karen Taylor
