Hey, all.
Well, you haven't heard from me in a while, so that must mean things are going well, right? RIGHT?!?!!!
Anyway, things do seem to be going well for me. My team is really starting to come together. We're playing better as a unit and have a much better flow than we did at the start of the season. I feel like we've all learned quite a bit and are having fun. Add the awesome captains that we have and you've got yourself a pretty good league team.
Ok, so that's not really what this email is about. It's about playoffs, something that most, if not all, of you should care about at least a little bit.
After much deliberation, and based on available fields, we're doing playoffs a little different this league.
As you may already know, playoffs start with each team being assigned to a pool, based on overall league record. There will be four pools of four teams, comprised of two Monday and two Wednesday teams. Pool play will consist of every team playing three games to 13 on Saturday, April 25. Games will run from about 2pm until 10pm. Due to field space, we've decided to stagger games, in that three pools will start at 2pm and finish about 7:30pm and one pool will start at 4pm and finish about 9:30pm. This is going to be awesome for several reasons. I will mention two of them here. Staggered games and BBQ.

You might not really know what that means, but trust me in that it's awesome.
The schedule with pool breakdown will be posted shortly. Pool assignments are based on ranking and should be available sometime between Wednesday and Saturday of next week.
The team with the best record from each pool will play in Semis on Wednesday, April 29 at 6pm. Finals will occur at 8pm. Everyone is invited to come out and cheer and heckle their favorite teams and players. It's fun. Prizes, which will likely consist of discs, will be awarded that night.
The team with the best record from the opposite day of the winning team will play in a consolation bracket on Monday, April 27, with Semis at 6pm and Finals at 8pm. So, as an example, if all Wednesday teams win the four pools, then the Monday teams with the best pool play record will play on Monday. This means that 4 Monday teams and 4 Wednesday teams will all have games on either the 27th or the 29th. The 2nd place Monday and Wednesday teams, regardless of pool play record, will not advance to either bracket. This means that almost every game counts for every team.
I really hope this makes sense.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask me, or your captains, or someone else that might look like they know what's going on.
Also, I need volunteers to help purchase food and whatnot for the BBQ on Saturday. Seriously, let me know if you can help.
Thanks, and I'll see you on the fields.
