Dear Phoenix Ultimate Players,

The VOTS ultimate organization runs leagues, tournaments, clinics, and
open play so that Valley residents can learn and play ultimate.
Ongoing VOTS operations are run by officers, who are overseen by a
board of directors. There will be board and officer positions up for
election shortly.* If you are interested in a leadership position,
regardless of your level of play or previous involvement, please read
on:

Who: Anyone who wants to spread their passion for ultimate by helping
decide in which direction Phoenix Ultimate will go. Ideally the board
will reflect the diversity of players in the Valley, including young
and old, new and experienced, tournament-level and casual players,
male and female, East Valley and West Valley.

What is involved: Board members attend a few meetings per year, where
they decide how to run the leagues, how to utilize field space, how to
encourage new players to learn the game, etc. Board members can
decide to do more than attend meetings, but it is not required.
Officers (i.e. treasurer) have additional responsibilities; the
president in particular is ultimately responsible for ensuring that
the organization functions smoothly.

How: If you are interested in joining the VOTS board, please respond
with a brief email detailing your experience with ultimate, with
volunteering, with running an organization - anything that you think
is relevant. Please also include a paragraph describing your vision
for Ultimate in the Valley. Limit responses to one page. Send all

* All officers are up for re-election. Offices include president,
secretary, and treasurer. The current secretary (that's me!) and
treasurer (Ken Mayer) will be running again. The office of president
needs to be filled. In addition, there will be open board positions
which do not require holding an office. All officers and board
members vote at meetings. Offices are held for two years, after which
an election is held. Board members hold their posts indefinitely
(until they choose to step down).
