It's not that big of a deal.
Keith is willing to help with some of the stuff that is worky, like
registration and working out the schedule.
The commish needs to rally the captains and set up the draft meeting.
Keith and Joanne have hosted several of these and will probably be
amenable to that again. Keith will help set up the web pages. The
commish will need to finish some of the pages (enter team names into
appropriate places, e.g.).
From there the commish mainly needs to:
- Deal with shirts. Keith has the contacts. Task this out unless you
want to do it.
- Make sure the fields get coned. I'm thinking just give each captain
a set of cones and have them cone their own fields.
- Collect scores and update the web site. The score sheet thing I did
is not necessary.
- The recaps, imo, are up to the commish. Maybe just tell captains to
put recaps on the message board if they want to.
- Rally volunteers for the finals festivities. Keith will help with
the schedule. The party stuff is pretty easy to task out.
As Keith noted, this will be a Tues and Thu league, so a co-commish
might be good (or 3 or 4), but if the captains cone their own fields,
and if scores are gathered via email, it might not be necessary for
the/a commissioner to be at each session. Some captain/s or board
members could probably be imposed upon to be acting commissioner for
any sessions should any commissioner-related emergencies arise.
In addition, I want to mention that the required duties of VOTS board
members and officers are purposefully trim. The idea is to make it so
that the corporation is not a burden to operate for board members and
officers. Regarding Keith specifically, the job of the President is
not to do everything. The President's job is to keep an eye out a
couple of months ahead and get volunteers to attend to specific tasks
as much as possible. Obviously, historically, Keith has been a pretty
big failure at not doing most everything himself, but if he doesn't
get some help he is going to burn out. He's part way there now.
I am pretty likely to run the 2006 Fall league, but I am not going to
run this one.
