The City of Yarra Bicycle Strategy is finally available for public
consultation!

Please read below for additional details of where and how you can make
submissions. YarraBUG will be making a submission by October 22, but
please feel free to make your own as well.

Also pass on this information about the bicycle strategy to everyone you
know, especially anyone who cycles or is interested in cycling issues in
the Yarra Council area.

Council is seeking feedback from local residents, businesses and other
community members about its draft Bicycle Strategy 2010-2015.

The draft strategy seeks to establish a long term vision for cycling in
Yarra. It details actions and timelines for improvements to the on and off
road bicycle network and other infrastructure (including bike parking
facilities) so Council maximises bicycle use in Yarra.

The draft strategy sets a clear goal for Council to more than double the
rate of Yarra residents cycling to work from 6.4% to 15% by 2015. Hard
copies of the draft strategy are available at the Richmond and Collingwood
Town Halls and at the five Yarra Libraries.

Submissions about the draft strategy must be made before Thursday 22
October 2009. Please forward your comments to Council’s Co-ordinator

at mark.kulyk[AT]yarracity.vic.gov.au

Council’s Planning, Environment and Infrastructure meeting will formally
consider all submissions received at its meeting at the Fitzroy Town Hall
on Tuesday 1 December, at 8pm.

Council is expected to adopt the strategy, with any amendments required,
at its full Council meeting at the Fitzroy Town Hall on Tuesday 15
December 2009, from 7pm.
