Subject: Annual General Meeting - 19th Dec

Does this sound like you?

Ever wondered how FTF organise and run MTB races, and would like to know how
you could help?

You are the parent, partner or friend of a competitor who would like to
assist in the running of a race considering that you'll be out their
supporting them anyway?

Well, your time is now!

Since the foundation back in 1983, the club has always prided itself as
being Australia's Premier Mountain Bike Club.

For the past 25 years this 'grassroots' club has been run by volunteers, who
are willing to put back into the sport which has given them so much.

The future of the club is looking no different. A committee of volunteers,
each with a different skill set working together to keep this sport at the
forefront.

All proceeds from the races are used to keep the club afloat, to purchase
quality prizes and to support the next generation of athletes aiming to
excel.

Fat Tyre Flyers objective is simple, "to run and organise first-class MTB
races aimed at all levels of ability and age".

For example, have you had a good look at the Cross Country calendar lately?
Yes, that's right, almost every weekend is booked up with some kind of
event, from an Enduro to a Marathon. These 'events', run by Private
Promoters are aimed at achieve one thing, numbers. That's where we, FTF,
need to keep track of our goal, "to specialize in the evolution of the
rider, to become a competent racer". This can not be achieved without
volunteer help.

As you are aware, the club has three separate committees, Cross Country,
Downhill and Trials. Depending on your interest, you can get involved.

What does being a committee member mean?

Well, depending on your availability and what position (secretary,
treasurer, president or general committee member), it's as little or as much
as you like. For example, there may be a committee meeting (normally on a
Tuesday night) every month or so which are a great means to discuss the
future direction of the club, you are kept in the loop via email
correspondence, and it's basically a matter of when you could help out. Say
we have an upcoming XC or DH race on the weekend, well you might be able to
come out on the Saturday for a few hours to help set up the course, or maybe
you're only available on the Sunday to help out by being a marshal or with
timing. Or depending on your skill set, you would be the administrator of
the website putting up dates and reports, or you could help out with
obtaining sponsorship, controlling prizes etc etc it's that easy. Even if
you could help two or three times a year, that would be fantastic!

So, on Friday the 19th of December 2008 @ 6pm, at Lilydale lake (melways
page 38 ref: G7), the club will be putting on a casual BBQ to host the AGM
(XC and DH). All positions will be vacant, so if you would like to become a
committee member, please come along. If however, you are unable to attend,
but would like to get involved, please send us an email as per the details
below.

Cross Country: refer to www.ftf.com.au for contact details.
Downhill: refer to www.ftfdh.com for contact details.
Trials: refer to www.biketrialsaustralia.com for contact details. - please
note: The Vic Trials AGM will be on the 20th of November. Check the website
for further details.

Hope to see you there!

Cheers

Joel
