Hi Moreland BUG, vicBUGchat and Critical Mass lists,
As you probably know, the EastLink freeway will be opened this
Sunday for a Community Day, inviting cyclists to ride it before it becomes
clogged up with cars. Some folks have decided to join in the event, but bearing
signs and banners to protest rather than celebrate the opening of yet another
freeway – a sensible position to take methinks in this time of peak oil
and climate change!
Details below.
Cheers, Anna
EASTLINK OPENING
PROTEST
Come along and
attend the Eastlink community day next Sunday the 15th of June. We're pretty
disappointed that the community have been invited along to
"celebrate" the construction of this new freeway when we should
all be thinking forward to public transport and low emissions transport
solutions. Make your own sign like ours and come along to the fun run. We'll be
walking it.
Lill, Ali and
Steph.
