I would be interested in providing some input as to the transport needs of Nillumbik Shire (the green wedge shire), with a focus on cyclists,

Hi all, Think there's going to be a BUG meetup announced soon ... details on their way! >From VCOSS: DoI has launched a review of the Transport Act (1983). The Act provides the legislative framework for transport in Victoria including designating functions of the Department of Infrastructure and outlining the objectives of the transport system. As part of the community consultation phase of the review a discussion paper has been released for comment. It’s available from: Long link: http://www.doi.vic.gov.au/DOI/Internet/planningprojects.nsf/AllDocs/5B9DF9312B4B1037CA25735A000909DA?OpenDocument Shorter link: http://preview.tinyurl.com/29m8ss From DoI: The Transport Legislation Review involves a comprehensive review of the current transport legislation in Victoria to determine whether it provides the optimum framework to meet Victoria’s current and emerging transport challenges. Central to the review process is a discussion paper that seeks feedback from individuals and organisations on the objectives required for the transport legislation that will enable us to meet the challenges ahead. Submissions responding to the discussion paper are due on 14 December 2007. (More details at link) Making a response to the discussion paper could potentially be a fantastic method for us (BUGs) to get our opinions known and cycling's profile raised as viable sustainable transport. I'm interested in providing feedback to the discussion paper, if anyone else in interested please email back. Either individual BUGs could make submission or there possibly could be a combined submission, as Darebin BUG, Moreland BUG and Yarra BUG did for the recent Merri Creek review. cheers, Chris ;)
