Hi all,
here some great news about exciting series of events for Smith
Street & International Car Free Day!

Why not organise a ride or fun public event for your BUG to
celebrate Car Free Day?

Anyway, if you're interested, time is short, so if you have any cool
& creative ideas of what YarraBUG, or you, or your group could do,
please don't hesitate to contact us at yarrabug-
owner@yahoogroups.com or Celia, on celia@...

Roll on, Smith Street

As part of a pilot sustainability program, the City of
Yarra and the Green Streets Stewards Committee invite
every man, woman and dog to celebrate `International
Car-Free Day', as the beginning of five-days of
sustainability-based activities on Smith Street.

International Car-Free Day
Wednesday, 22 September, 2004
As the name implies, if you can go without your car,
please do. There are plenty of alternatives for
getting to where you have to go, including using
public transport, riding a bike, walking or
car-pooling.

On Smith Street a series of Community Sustainability
Workshops will kick-off and there will be prizes and
giveaways.

Remember, the fewer cars on the road, the more
successful the day. Besides, you might enjoy it so
much that you decide to do away completely with the
hassle of peak-hour traffic, parking, petrol prices
and road rage.

Community Sustainability Workshops
Wednesday, 22–26 September 2004
These will be free to attend and hosted at various
venues, covering topics, tips and tricks on
sustainable business and living.

Programs outlining topics, guest speakers and venues
for the Community Sustainability Workshops will be
posted in the coming weeks.

`Roll'n' Stroll on Smith
Sunday, 26 September, 2004
A community day dedicated to traders, residents and
the wider community. Make sure you visit Smith Street
by foot, blade, bike, board or public transport and
support sustainability in your community.

Smith Street will play host to entertainers, special
guests, wind-up the Community Sustainability Workshops
and there will be discounts and giveaways for
residents and visitors on the day.

More information:
Keep your eye out for more information on these events
in the coming week. If you wish to participate or
contribute to the festivities, please contact Greening
Smith Street representatives:
Celia on 0438 377 922 or celia@...
Venina on 0403 966 971 or venina@...

Cheers
