Dear Yarra BUG,
Four inner city Councils have asked us to coordinate a count of bike riders on 'Super Tuesday' 6 March 2007 to help the Inner Melbourne Action Group (IMAP) better understand where riders go and where the priorities lie in their bike network. It will also help us all to encourage them to spend more money on bike facilities.
This is a great opportunity for us all to provide the evidence of the current cycling boom.
You can assist in this by getting your members to sign up as volunteer counters.
When one of your supporters signs up to be a counter and nominates your group, we will make a donation of $50 per volunteer counter to your group. All groups on the Find A Club or BUG webpage are eligible. Workplace BUGs registered with Bicycle Victoria are also eligible. Please let us know of any groups that should be registered.
We plan to staff 90 sites across inner Melbourne between 7-9am.
This invitation is going out to all BUGs and clubs before we make a more general call for volunteer counters. Please contact your members and encourage them to register. The general call will go out in In The Loop on Thursday 8 February.
Each volunteer counter will receive a free Super Tuesday T-Shirt.
Please send this link to your supporters: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=713713233433
to be a part of Super Tuesday.
Details about the count are available click here.
