Which brings me to my next question: at the moment,
there are lots of places we can go to get information
about BUGS (BV, Cycling Promotion Fund, etc)
but no one we can go to for real help on the critical
issues. Is this the time to form (yet another)
umbrella group for BUGs to provide strategic guidance
and also to share the insurance burden?
I'm interested in discussing this further if anyone
else is interested.
Greg, that's a very valid point. I recall several
years ago BV did investigate options for BUG
insurance, as did the (then) Victorian Bicycle
Coalition. From memory they required a certain number
of BUG's to pay up to make the group insurance viable.
Mind you this was all pre-Sept 2001 and the whole
playing field has altered. Some what.
YarraBUG have been looking into association
incorporation so we can organise rides, but it seems
there are still legal niceities to be attended to
about public liability etc.
Worth investigating:

Further remarks, comments are most welcome.
cheers,
Chris ;)
